Oliver Loses Huge Pot; Eliminated Right After

Chris Oliver
Chris Oliver

We didn't catch the betting, but we do know that Amir Lehavot and Chris Oliver created a pot worth 640,000 on a flop of {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{2-Clubs}. Oliver had flopped top two pair with {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} while Lehavot had the nut flush draw with {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}.

With the chip lead at stake, the {10-Clubs} spiked on the turn to give Lehavot the said flush; however, Oliver could still boat up on the river with any queen or king. Unfortunately for the one-time chip leader, the {4-Hearts} blanked and he lost the massive pot.

A couple hands later, Toby Lewis raised to 13,000 from the cutoff and Oliver reraised from the button. They ended up getting the money all in with Oliver at risk for his last 82,000.

Oliver: {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}
Lewis: {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}

The board ran out {K-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and Oliver was eliminated from the tournament.

Mizzi Eliminated

Sorel Mizzi
Sorel Mizzi

Sorel Mizzi and Jennifer Tilly got in a preflop raising war that resulted in the latter being all in. Lucky for her, she held {A-}{A-} against Mizzi's {8-}{8-} and never fell behind. While MTilly doubled to 280,000, Mizzi was left with just 12,000 after the hand.

He was eliminated on the very next hand.

Bell and Brunson Eliminated

Todd Brunson
Todd Brunson

Jennifer Tilly opened for 15,000 under the gun only to have Chris Bell reraise to 55,000 from the cutoff. Sam Stein called all in from the button while Tilly decided to get out of the way.

Bell: {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}
Stein: {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}

Bell had picked the wrong time to mix it up with ace-jack and needed to get lucky. The {J-Spades}{3-Clubs}{7-Spades} flop gave him a good sweat, but neither the {3-Spades} turn nor the {6-Hearts} river pushed him to a win. He was left with just 16,000 after the hand and was eliminated a short time later.

Meanwhile, a short-stacked Todd Brunson was eliminated over on Table 275.

Hard Times for O'Dwyer

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

Steve O'Dwyer and Robert Mizrachi built a sizable pot to see the flop of {10-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}. Mizrachi bet enough to put O'Dwyer all in and O'Dwyer went deep into the tank. A few minutes passed while O'Dwyer thought of his options. He reluctantly folded and was only left with 21,000. Mizrachi assured him he made a good lay down and he had pocket aces.

The next hand O'Dwyer threw it all in and found a call from McLean Karr.

Karr: {4-} {4-}
O'Dwyer: {A-Spades} {J-Hearts}

Board: {8-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {3-Spades} {10-Clubs} {10-Hearts}

O'Dwyer was eliminated from the tournament.

Chidwick's Jacks Survive Big Slick

Just before the last break, Stephen Chidwick was all in for 187,000 holding {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} against the {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} of Noah Schwartz. The pot was worth around 380,000, and it went to Chidwick as the board ran out {9-Clubs}{2-Spades}{8-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}.

Matusow Moves All In

On a flop of {J-Spades}{K-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}, Mike Matusow bet 16,500 and was called by Jonathan Jaffe, leading to the {7-Clubs} on the turn. Matusow wasted little time in moving all in for 65,500, which proved too much for Jaffe to call.
