The Poker Brat is Gone

Phil Hellmuth isn't all smiles anymore.
Phil Hellmuth isn't all smiles anymore.

We're not sure of all the details, but we do know that Phil Hellmuth was eliminated after running into the two pair, kings and sevens, of Maxwell Troy, who appears to be our chip leader with 52,000. Interestingly, Troy finished third in this very event last year and preceded that with two runner-up finishes in Stud events in 2010.

54 Shades of Grey

A short-stacked David Grey was all in and watched as Vladimir Shchemelev pushed another player out of the pot on the turn.

Grey: {5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} / {5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{A-Spades}{7-Diamonds} / {6-Spades}
Shchemelev: {10-Spades}{9-Spades} / {J-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{J-Hearts} / {4-Spades}

Grey held two pair on the turn and was ahead, but he'd lose that lead on sixth street when Shchemelev madejacks and tens. "Good game," Grey said before exiting the tournament floor.

More Eliminations

The higher limits have resulted in a bevy of eliminations as of late. Here are a few more players who've hit the rail short of Day 2:

Kenney Busts Brown, Harman

Harman: (x-x) / {q-Spades}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{8-Spades} / (x)
Kenney: (x-x) / {6-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} / (x)
Brown: (x-x) / {k-Clubs}{3-Spades}{k-Hearts}{3-Clubs} / (x)
McCormick: (x-x) / {10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{4-Clubs} fold

Did you get all that? Ok here we go. When we got to the table, PokerStars pro Chad Brown and Jennifer Harman were all in on third street against Bryn Kenney and Tom McCormick. Kenney proceeded to bet the whole way until McCormick folded on sixth street. Kenney showed {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades} in the hole, and caught the {a-Diamonds} on the river to make aces up. Brown said he did not have a full house, and couldn't catch another king or three on seventh street. Harman showed just the {q-Hearts}{k-Spades} for a pair of queens before mucking her hand and heading to the rail.

Kenney scooped the big pot, and has shot up all the way to 43,000, which is one of the biggest stacks in the room by our count.

Deeb Douses Greenstein

Shuan Deeb
Shuan Deeb

A short-stacked Barry Greenstein found himself all in from the get go as Shaun Deeb and Hasan Habib battled it our for a side pot. We didn't catch the action on the turn, but it appeared Deeb check-called a bet on fifth street before leading out on sixth. Habib made the call and then called a bet on sixth before both men checked seventh.

"Broadway" Deeb said confidently as he rolled over his cards.

Deeb: {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} / {A-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{3-Clubs}{K-Spades}
Habib: (x-x) / {9-Spades}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} / (x)
Greenstein: {A-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} / {6c{10-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{7-Clubs}

Habib mucked his cards while Greenstein showed his, rapped the table and took his leave from the tournament.

Various Chip Counts

Reslock Doubles Through Hawrilenko

We caught the action on sixth street when Matt Hawrilenko bet and Chris Reslock, who won this very event back in 2007, raised. Hawrilenko put in a three-bet and Reslock called off his last 500.

Reslock: {J-Diamonds}{3-Spades} / {J-Hearts}{10-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} / {5-Spades}
Hawrilenko: {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs} / {2-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} / {8-Clubs}

Reslock had two pair when the money went in, but Hawrilenko had plenty of outs with his pocket pair of aces. Luckily for Reslock, neither sixth nor seventh street changed a thing and he survived the hand.
