The 2009 Champ is Gone, Lacay Moves On

Leo Wolpert won the $10,000 World Series of Poker Heads Up Championship back in 2009 but this year he didn't get past the second round. Wolpert played top French pro Ludovic Lacay who finished 16th in the 2009 WSOP Main Event cashing $500,557. He also has two top three finishes in World Poker Tour events and two other WSOP final tables to his name.

Lacay told us he took an early lead which got erased when Wolpert won an all in with {K-}{3-} against {a-}{4-} for his last chips. After that Lacay was down some and raised from the button to 2,000 with {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. Wolpert re-raised to 5,500 and Lacay called. The flop came down {K-}{Q-}{6-} with one diamond and Lacy called a 6,000 chip continuation bet. The turn was the {8-Diamonds} and Wolpert bet 8,600. Lacay made it 22,000 and called all in for 30,000 total when Wolpert shoved on him.

Wolpert showed {Ks]{2-Spades} and needed to dodge quite some cards to win this match. Lacay hit the {7-Diamonds} on the river and doubled up putting him back in the lead. On the final hand Wolpert was all in for 19,000 chips with {3-}{3-} against the Frenchman's {5-}{5-} and Lacay's hand held up. Lacay will play the winner of the match between Amritraj Singh and Adam Ross.
