Bathroom Break

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu who has been advocating for a bathroom break for the past 15 minutes has finally received one with the knock out blow to his opponent Faraz Jaka.

We don't know how the action went, but we know Jaka managed to get all in and at risk preflop. Jaka looked to be in fairly good shape to as his {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} was well ahead of Negreanu's {a-Hearts}{3-}.

With a {6-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{a-Clubs} flop being spread Negreanu jumped into the lead. A {8-Clubs} on the turn allowed for clubs to be a possible Jaka out, but the {k-Spades} on the river brought with it the elimination of Jaka.

Parker Eliminates Smith

"I had aces and he made a straight with ace-king," Dan Smith said as we were just a tad too late to catch the board and the cards. Brock Parker started laughing and said, "That's not what happened." Smith left the tournament area and Parker brought us up to speed.

Parker had min-raised the button to 4,000 and Smith moved all in for his final 45,000 chips. Parker called with {A-}{K-} and was up against {K-Spades}{4-Spades}. Parker's hand held up and he is off to play Moses Silverman in the third round.

The Craziness of Froehlich vs. Somerville

Level 20 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante
Eric Froehlich
Eric Froehlich

Jason Somerville and Eric Froehlich have been battling back and forth. First, Somerville doubled up with {A-}{K-} versus {A-}{10-}.

Then Froehlich doubled back with {K-}{10-} to {A-}{Q-} with a ten on the turn. After that, Froehlich took a very big lead with {K-}{Q-} versus {Q-}{J-} on a flop of {K-}{Q-}{10-} that saw the turn and river brick out. That pot smashed Somerville all the way down to just a few thousand in chips.

Somerville the moved in his last 2,800 with the {K-Hearts}{5-Clubs} against the {A-Hearts}{4-Spades} for Froehlich and doubled after a board of {J-Hearts}{10-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{5-Spades}. He then doubled again on the next hand when his {8-Hearts}{2-Clubs} beat Froehlich's {5-Spades}{4-Hearts} on a board of {A-}{10-}{9-}{A-}{2-} after all the money went in preflop.

On the next hand, Froehlich doubled up Somerville once more when his {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs} couldn't beat Somerville's {Q-Spades}{9-Hearts}. Somerville shoved his last 11,200 in preflop and the board ran out {4-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}.

Shortly following all those doubles, Froehlich finally busted Somerville to move on to the next round.

Vedes Moves On, Akenhead Gone

The 2009 November Nine finalist James Akenhead just lost his heads up match against two time World Poker Tour winner Tommy Vedes. Vedes also finished 19th in the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event, the year Akenhead made it to the final table.

Vedes told us the biggest pot was played in the 800/1,600 level when he got it in with {A-}{9-} against Akenhead's {A-}{8-}. That 70,000 chip pot went to Vedes who took a commanding chip lead. Just now Vedes put Akenhead all in for his final 20,000 chips and the Brit called with {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}. Vedes had {A-Spades}{2-Spades} and his hand held up. Tommy Vedes is playing the third round against Melanie Weisner.

Jaka Finds Double Up

Level 20 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

With a {K-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} board exposed we found Faraz Jaka bet out 2,000. Jaka's opponent, Daniel Negreanu raised and made it 5,000. After a few moments of contemplation Jaka three-bet and Negreanu moved all in and was called. Jaka had less chips and was the one at risk.

Jaka: {J-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Negreanu: {Q-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}

Jaka had flopped a flush, but wasn't out of the woods yet, any other diamond to land would steal the pot away from Jaka and into the pile of Negreanu's. A {10-Spades} on the turn and a {7-Hearts} on the river allowed for Jaka to maintain his lead and double up to around 70,000.
