Hawrilenko Home

Matt Hawrilenko may be better known to some as "Hoss_TBF", a.k.a one of the best limit holdem players in the world. Unfortunately for Hawrilenko though, it is all over here in event 20.

Hawrilenko was short stacked for much of the last couple of levels and finally got his stack all in on a recent hand. It all started when a player opened it up from the hijack while Hawrilenko was in the big blind. Hawrilenko made it three bets at this stage, committing most of his stack. The player made it a fourth bet and Hawrilenko flicked in the last of his chips.

When Hawrilenko's opponent turned over {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}, Hawrilenko cringed at the sight of the ten as his {10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} left him with only one live card. The {7-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{10-Clubs} board was no help to Hawrilenko and he was sent out the door.

Hands, Hands, Hands

Level 7 : 400/800, 0 ante

Here are few quick snippets of action from the second last level of the night.

  • Eric Froehlich opened from the cutoff and the big blind made the call. A {10-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} flop saw the big blind player check and Froehlich bet. The player then check-raised and when Froehlich called, a {6-Spades} was dealt on the turn. The big blind then flicked out a bet and Froehlich let his hand go.
  • A board showed {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{9-Clubs} when we arrived at John Juanda's table. It was Juanda versus one opponent and it was checked to Juanda, who bet. A call and the {10-Diamonds} hit the river. This time both players checked and then Juanda took down the pot holding {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}.
  • A middle position player opened it up and Vitaly Lunkin three-bet from the button. the big blind called and so did the opening player. The {3-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop would see the big blind check-raise after Lunkin bet, while the other player's cards were in the muck. The {10-Spades} turn would see the player lead with a bet and Lunkin call. The {3-Spades} river and it was another bet and call. Lunkin's opponent tabled {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, too strong for Lunkin.

Out

We cannot find the following players and have to assume they busted out.

Lindgren Looming

Level 7 : 400/800, 0 ante

Erick Lindgren and two other players each committed a raise to see a {6-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} flop dealt on the felt. On the flop, the play was checked to Lindgren who flicked out a bet. both players called and the {6-Clubs} was dealt on the turn. Again the play was checked to Lindgren and he bet again. The player directly on his left instantly called and so too did the other player.

A {2-Spades} completed the board on the river and a check would see it on Lindgren. He bet and this time the player on his left folded. The other player made the call and then mucked his hand as Lindgren turned over {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}.

Alaei Wins One

When we came to Daniel Alaei's table there was a flop showing {8-Spades}{2-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} and Alaei was involved in a hand with Richard Lyndaker. Alaei proceeded to fire out bets on every street and receive calls from Lyndacker as the turn {3-Diamonds} and the river {3-Clubs} hit the felt.

At the end of the hand, Alaei turned over {k-Spades}{8-Hearts}, with his two-pair seeing Lyndaker's cards fly straight into the muck.
