Great Value in Registering Late

Well, we might be just a tad sarcastic about that. The table filled with players who late registered is located just outside the tan section of the Amazon Room and it's filled with superstars. We feel very sorry for the unknown player in seat eight who will have to go up against these monsters.

In total these guys have won 15 WSOP gold bracelet and their live tournament earnings add up to well over 43 million dollars! We're pretty sure none of these players is happy with this table, but maybe it's a good time to catch up, since most of them will know each other pretty well.

Hands From The Floor

A bit of a walk around the tournament floor and here are some of the little hands that have recently played out.

  • One opponent check-called every street of a board showing {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{3-Hearts} against Eric Froehlich. At the end, Froehlich tabled his {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} and took down the pot.
  • Jeff Shulman and one opponent took to a {6-Spades}{a-Clubs}{6-Hearts} flop. Shulman called a bet on the flop to see a {7-Spades} hit the turn. A check on the turn and the {4-Diamonds} completed the board. Both players again checked and Shulman mucked his cards as his opponent's {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} took down the hand.
  • Maria Ho opened the pot and Mike Sowers three-bet. Ho called and a {5-Spades}{5-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} flop hit the felt. Ho opted to check and Sowers quickly fired out a bet. Too strong for Ho as she sent her cards into the muck and the pot to Sowers.

Pilgrim Loses Some

When Dwyte Pilgrim and one opponent took to a {3-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{j-Spades} flop, Dwyte looked to his opponent asked how much he had left. It was around 2,500 - or just over four big bets.

On the flop, Pilgrim flicked out a bet and his opponent called. As the dealer readied the turn card, Pilgrim said, "I gotta see if you fold on the turn," and he bet again. Another call and the last card would hit the felt.

River: {k-Hearts}

This time Pilgrim would stop betting and say, "pocket sevens," before he showed his hand. His opponent turned over {q-Spades}{q-Clubs} and Pilgrim flashed his {7-}{7-} before they went flying into the muck.

Two Pair For Harman

Jennifer Harman and Annie Duke are sitting next to each other only to be separated by the dealer. We haven't seen any clashes between the two but it's very likely there have already been some blind battles.

Duke is currently third on the all-time money leaderboard with $4.2 in live tournament earnings while Harman is in sixth with $2.6 million. We are dealing with two of the most successful women in poker in this tournament and it was just Harman who managed to take down a nice pot against one of the other players.

Harman called a raise from the player in the hijack when she was on the button and after both blinds folded the flop came down {K-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{6-Spades}. Harman called a 300 chip bet and the turn was the {Q-Clubs}. Her opponent bet again and Harman opted to raise making it 1,200. The call was made quickly and the river was the {5-Diamonds}. Harman's opponent called another 600 and mucked when she tabled {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}.

Harman is up there with a nice stack while Duke came all the way back up to just a couple of bets below the starting stack.
