Chip Counts

Cassidy Firmly in Second

Joe Cassidy
Joe Cassidy

Joe Cassidy's been having a monster day so far as he's now up to around 700,000 in chips. He just beat Dan Kelly out of another pot knocking the youngster down to just 55,000 chips. Kelly managed to more then double up right afterwards and is now sitting on 170,000 chips.

From the cutoff Kelly raised it up to 20,000 and Phil Ivey three-bet from the small blind. Cassidy called from the big and Kelly also put in the extra chips.

The flop came down {A-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} and Cassidy took the betting lead after Ivey had checked. Kelly and Ivey called.

The turn was the {10-Clubs} and now Ivey bet out 20,000 after which Cassidy raised. Kelly called and Ivey decided to lay it down. The river was the {A-Clubs} and Cassidy put in another 20,000 getting Kelly to fold. He was left very short, but as we said he managed to double up right afterwards and win some more chips.

Jamison and Hoeppner Chop the Low

On a {8-Spades}{7-Spades}{7-Clubs} flop Elie Doft, Gergory Jamison, Brendan Taylor and James Hoeppner all invested two bets to see a turn card.

On the {4-Spades} turn it got checked to Jamison who bet, Doft raised, Hoeppner re-raised, Taylor folded and Jamison called. The action was back on Doft who faced a raise, but he wasn't done and put in another raise making it 80,000 to go. Hoeppner put his remaining chips into the pot and Jamison called the bet giving us river action with one player all in.

The river was the {4-Clubs} and Doft check-called a bet from Jamison.

Elie Doft{7-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}
Gregory Jamison{A-Spades}{2-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}
James Hoeppner{A-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}

Both Jamison and Hoeppner had the nut low while Doft took down the high with a full house.

Brian Hastings Eliminated in 16th Place ($13,031)

Brian Hastings
Brian Hastings

After a series of losing pots Brian Hastings just got eliminated by Dan Kelly. Pre flop Hastings got his remaining chips into the pot and he was up against the player on his direct right.

Hastings showed {A-Spades}{2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{9-Spades} and was up against {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{3-Spades}. The board ran out {K-}{J-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{K-} giving Kelly a flush and the knock out. We are down to 15 players and Hastings will not claim his second gold bracelet of the summer after winning the $10,000 Heads Up Championship earlier.

Cassidy Takes Massive One From Kelly

We just saw the biggest pot of the day so far between Joe Cassidy and Dan Kelly. Cassidy is now in second chips while Kelly is in big trouble as he's down to just five big bets.

The action started off with a raise to 20,000 from Cassidy who was in the hijack. Kelly defended his big blind and the flop came down {A-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}. Kelly checked to Cassidy who bet 10,000 after he got check-raised right away. Cassidy called.

The turn was the {J-Hearts} and Kelly bet 20,000. Cassidy wanted to play for more and bumped it up to 40,000 after which Kelly put in another raise to 60,000 right away. Cassidy called.

On the river we saw the {9-Diamonds} and Kelly fired out 20,000 once more. There was no low possibility and Cassidy probably surprised many when he put in a raise to 40,000. Kelly didn't move a muscle and gave it some thought before finally folded for one extra bet in this massive pot. Every bet is crucial and Kelly saved this one for a comeback he needs to make in order to keep his second WSOP bracelet dreams alive.

Trouble For Hastings

Dan Kelly raised pre flop to 20,000 and Brian Hastings three-bet him to 30,000 one seat over. Kelly called and the flop came down {A-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{J-Spades}. Kelly check-called a 10,000 chip bet and the turn was the {3-Spades}. Both players checked.

The river was the {10-Spades} and Kelly put in 20,000. Hastings wasn't happy and folded his cards after double checking them and Kelly took down the pot. Hastings has just five more big bets left while Kelly is back up to ten big bets.
