Color Up

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

There is a 20 minute break to color up the purple 500 chips. We will be right back with the second level of the day. We are still with 22 players.

Ivey Scoops Matusow, Increases Lead

In a blind battle on a {A-Spades}{8-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop we just caught the action between Phil Ivey and Mike Matusow. Ivey checked to his opponent who bet 6,000 after which he put in a raise to 12,000. Matusow quickly made it 18,000 and Ivey called.

The turn was the {4-Diamonds} and Ivey check-called a 12,000 chip bet. On the river the {6-Clubs} hit and Ivey lead out for 12,000. Matusow didn't seem to happy but put in the call.

Ivey tabled {A-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{J-Clubs} for the nut flush and a A2346 low and Matusow looked back at his cards in disgust. He mucked his {a-}{4-}{5-}{8-} open into the muck but we couldn't catch the suits as the dealer mucked them quickly.

Ivey is the first player over 500,000 chips while Matusow drop to 220,000.

Cassidy Climbing

We just caught the action on a {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} flop when Joe Cassidy put out a 6,000 chip bet. Ryan Lenaghan made the call and Phil Ivey tossed his cards into the muck.

The turn was the {6-Hearts} and Cassidy bet 12,000, Lenaghan called. On the river we saw the {7-Clubs} and Lenaghan called another 12,000 chip bet.

Cassidy turned over {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}{10-Spades}{8-Hearts} for the straight and took down this nice pot.

Matt Lefkowitz Eliminated in 24th Place ($10,348)

Matt Lefkowitz
Matt Lefkowitz

Matt Lefkowitz was short with just 20,500 chips when he opted to raise from the hijack to 12,000. Viacheslav Zhukov, the winner of this event last year, was to his left and three-bet right away. Brian Hastings called from the small blind and Jeremy Harkin made the call from the big blind.

The action was back on Lefkowitz who put his final chips into the pot and his three opponent made the call.

On a {3-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{3-Spades}{3-Clubs}{9-Clubs} board the hand got checked down and everyone was surprised when Harkin won the pot with just {5-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for a small full house. Lefkowitz got his payout ticket and we are down to 23 players.
