Payout!

Level 13

Since the bubble burst just a moment ago, we've heard a half-dozen calls for "Payout!" from the dealers. The short stacks did an admirable job of hanging around into the money, but it seems we're in the midst of a quick exodus.

Min-Cashes for Heimiller, Abusiam & Monnette

Stud Hi/Lo:

We caught the action on the fifth street when Rizqallah Abusiam bet, Randy Holland raised, and David Williams got out of the way.

Holland: {A-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} / {6-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Spades} / {3-Hearts}
Abusiam: {J-Spades}{J-Clubs} / {J-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{3-Spades}{A-Diamonds} / {K-Clubs}
Williams: (x-x) / {6-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} fold

"You have a very interesting straight draw there," David Grey said to Holland. Wouldn't you know it, running straight cards came on sixth and seventh to give Holland the scoop, cracking Abusiam's rolled-up jacks in the process and sending him home in 95th place.

Abusiam was preceded out the door by Dan Heimiller in 96th place, while John Monnette followed him out in 94th.

Young Phan Eliminates Kline

Stud Hi/Lo:

It's the end of the day for Carol Kline after picking up her second career WSOP cash. We didn't join the action until fifth street where Kline was the one leading the betting.

Kline: (x-x) / {7-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {A-Spades} / (x)
Phan: (x-x) / {2-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} / (x)

Kline got a call on fifth street, but Phan leaned forward to eyeball her stack after she bet sixth. When he saw she had just 5,700 left, he raised, and she put the rest of her chips into the pot. Phan was in control of the pot as he showed {5-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} / {2-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} / (x) for the flush and the seventy-five.

Kline needed to draw out to stay alive as she turned over {A-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} / {7-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {A-Spades} / (x). Her {5-Hearts} on seventh was no help, and she's been sent to the cashier to pick up her wages.

Miami John Crippled

Omaha Hi/Lo:

There was about 30,000 in the pot and a board reading {7-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{A-Spades}{10-Diamonds} when Marlon Milne bet out from the big blind and "Miami" John Cernuto called from the under-the-gun position. Steve Brown was on the button and opted for a raise, which both his opponents called.

When the {K-Diamonds} appeared on the river, Milne bet and Cernuto, who appeared to have missed a low draw, folded in frustration. Brown made the call and tabled {K-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{K-Spades}{5-Clubs} for a straight, which split the pot with Milne's {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}. Cernuto was left with just 14,000 after the hand.

Chow and Elezra Give and Take

Stud:

The table talk leads us to believe we missed the first round of Eli Elezra vs. Michael Chow. That one went Chow's way, but we watched Elezra get even just a moment later.

Elezra: (x-x) / {7-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {9-Clubs} / (x)
Chow: (x-x) / {A-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {J-Hearts} / (x)

Chow check-called bets on fifth, sixth, and seventh streets, though he did so at an increasingly slow pace as the hand progressed. When he called the last bet, Elezra tabled his hand confidently: {10-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {6-Spades} / {7-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {9-Clubs}.

"Five to the jack," he announced as he read his seven-card straight.

Chow mucked, then made a comment to Elezra that gave us the context: "Giving them right back to you."
