Big Double Up For Gates

In a blind battle Garry Gates just got his money all in pre draw against George Lind. Lind quickly drew one after which Gates tanked for around ten seconds before deciding to also draw one card. Both four-card hands got tabled.

George Lind{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{2-Hearts}
Garry Gates{7-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}

Lind squeezed his card and said Gates was a favorite to win. Gates turned over the {8-Clubs} and won the hand, since Lind had caught a {10-}.

"Which card do you throw away," Gates asked Lind who said he had tossed another {10-}. It seemed as though all the tens were almost gone, because Gates also claimed to have broken his {10-}-hand.

Not long after this hand Lind busted and Gates is looking really healthy with his stack right around 9,000.

Filippi Looks for a Hero

Amnon Filippi was in deep trouble but found a double-up to find himself in slightly less trouble.

The action folded to him on the button and he moved all in for 825. "You're stack could do damage to mine still," said the big blind, "but I call anyway."

Before either player drew, Filippi said to his opponent, "Take three and be my hero!"

The big blind didn't oblige as he drew one card along with Filippi.

Filippi won the hand with {9-}{8-}{4-}{6-}{k-} as his opponent drew a pair.

Edit: Filippi busted as we were writing this post.

Monnette Busts, Rutter Jumps to the Top

We just walked up to Table 364 where a lot of action was going down. The player under the gun raised to 525 after which Stuart Rutter, who was under the gun +1, made it 1,400. The action got folded to John Monnette who was in the small blind, and he moved all in for 7,050.

Both blinds folded and the under the gun player went into the tank for quite some time. Eventually he released his hand and the action was on Rutter. The decision wasn't easy for the Brit who took almost a minute to make the call.

Both players stood pat and Rutter announced he had '{9-}{7-}'.

"Are you f***king with me," Monnette asked with a look of disgust on his face.

Rutter turned over {9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and in frustration Monnette mucked his hand.

"Well good luck here," he added sarcastically as he paid his massues and walked way from the tournament area.

Rutter seemed kind off flustered by Monnette's behavior, but soon smiled when he found out his nick name was 'Angry John'. "It think Moannette would work as well," Rutter added with a smile as he's now one of the chip leaders.
