Welcome to the World Series of Poker Event 30: $1,500 2-7 Draw Lowball. This is one of the most fun events in the entire schedule. Unlike its Triple Draw variant of a brother, this game is played No-Limit, rather than limit. The players are also only allowed to draw once, rather than three times. The result of this means that there is an awful lot of opportunities to apply pressure on opponents, bluff, and try to make a hero out of yourself.

Matt Perrins of the UK bettered 274 players last year en route to claiming his maiden bracelet and $102,105. Not a bad achievement considering he'd hardly played the game before.

Here's a full list of previous winners of this event:

We expect this to be a small but stacked field. Join us back here at 5:00 PM for the start of the eight levels we'll play today.

Poor Ivey's got a Tough Table

Phil Ivey runs so bad! He has to deal with Nick Binger, Bryan Devonshire, Shaun Deeb and Dan O'Brien at his starting seven-handed table.

Binger just got the better of him in a pot too.

Ivey raised to 75 from the cut-off and called when Binger three-bet to 300 from the big blind.

Binger stood pat as Ivey drew one, and both players checked. Binger opened {j-}{8-}{5-}{2-}{3-} and Ivey mucked.

Donnie Peters' in The House!

Donnie Peters

As you all know the PokerNews.com Live Reporting Crew works hard every day in order to bring you all the news from the Rio. One of the hardest working men at this year's World Series of Poker has to be our own Donnie Peters who decided to play in today's event.

Peters hasn't had a day off this whole summer and looks to work hard at the tables today, instead of behind his laptop and in between the action. We will be following the action of our colleague closely, as this could be his moment of fame. At his table we recognized two players, Brandon Cantu and Liv Boeree.

One of our former colleagues, Garry Gates, is also in today's field. He's looking to battle against Justin Bonomo and Greg Raymer, both of which are in position to him.
