Back-to-Back for Johnny World

Limit Hold'em

When we reached the table, Johnny "World" Hennigan was heads up with Phil Ivey. The flop and turn had already been dealt {2-Hearts}{2-Spades}{6-Hearts}{9-Clubs}, and Ivey led out. Hennigan raised, and Ivey called.

The {7-Diamonds} completed the board, and Ivey checked. Hennigan tossed out a bet, and Ivey tank-called. Hennigan tabled {a-Clubs}{6-Spades}, Ivey unhappily mucked, and Hennigan won the pot.

The very next hand was the first of the Omaha 8 rotation. Brandon Shack-Harris raised, Ralph Perry called, and Hennigan three-bet. Both Shack-Harris and Perry called. The flop fell {8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}, and the action checked to Hennigan, who bet. Only Shack-Harris called.

Shack-Harris check-called another bet when the {q-Diamonds} turned, and the {7-Spades} completed the board. Shack-Harris check-called one last bet.

Hennigan tabled {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{9-Spades}{3-Clubs} for a pair of aces and the second-nut low, and Shack-Harris mucked his hand.

Shulman Doubles, Elky Triples

Hold'em

At almost exactly the same time, Nick Schulman was over on his table doubling up and Bertrand Grospellier was tripling up on his table.

Grospellier was all-in preflop against Mori Eskandani David Bach. Grospellier watched on as Bach and Eskandani checked down a {a-Spades}{9-Clubs}{5-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{8-Spades} board. Grospellier then tabled his {a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and raked in the pot as his opponent's cards went into the muck.

Schulman was all-in preflop for his last 20,000 holding {4-Spades}{4-Hearts} against his opponent's {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds} and when the board ran out, {9-Spades}{7-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{a-Spades}, Schulman took the double.

Kelly Tries the Trap

Dan Kelly tries the trap.
Dan Kelly tries the trap.

Limit Hold'em

Dan Kelly raised in the cutoff, Brandon Shack-Harris three-bet on the button, and the action folded back to Kelly, who called. The dealer fanned {k-Clubs}{6-Spades}{10-Diamonds}, and Kelly check-called a bet. Both players knuckled after the {8-Hearts} turned, and the {j-Hearts} completed the board. Both players checked again.

"Nuts," Kelly said as soon as Shack-Harris checked behind.

"Whoa," Shack-Harris exclaimed when he saw Kelly's {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}.

Kelly's trap didn't work, but he still raked in the pot.

Abe Mosseri: {x-}{x-} / {q-Clubs}{5-Spades}{k-Spades} (FOLDED)

When we came to Table 447, it was time for fifth street and Bertrand Grospellier was busy checking. John Monnette made the call and Abe Mosseri got out of the way. On sixth street, Grospellier checked and Monnette again fired out a bet. Grospellier thought hard before deciding to let his hand go. With that hand, Grospellier has one of the shorter stack in the room, while Monnette has one of the largest.
