Can Do Better Day for France

It's been a weird sort of day for the French. Their national football (soccer) team lost to Sweden at Euro 2012, still qualified for the knockout stages, but will have to play the favorites, Spain.

Frenchmen, Aubin Cazals and Antony Lellouche, both cashed - Hurray! They would have had much higher hopes than a min cash though - Boo.

Bastian Delighted with the River Card

Aubin Cazals' hopes of winning another bracelet to go with his one from Event #6 are looking dim after he lost a huge pot to Sebastian Bastian.

Shaun Deeb opened to 6,000 and was raised to16,000 by Cazals from the cut-off. Bastian called from the big blind, as did Deeb.

The flop fell {10-Spades}{a-Hearts}{k-Clubs} and Bastian led for the pot. Deeb folded before Bastian shoved for 118,100. Snap Call.

Cazalas: {q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} for the Broadway straight.
Bastian: {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{10-Clubs} for top set.

The board ran out {9-Spades}{k-Diamonds} to make Bastian a full house. He went off for a little dance to celebrate.

Lindgren Bubbles In The Strangest of Circumstances

Erick Lindgren must still be dazed and confused
Erick Lindgren must still be dazed and confused

Daniel Hindin made a standard raise from the cutoff, Erick Lindgren made the call from the small blind and that was about as standard as this hand got!

Flop: {K-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} {2-Hearts}

Lindgren check-called a Hindin c-bet.

Turn: {J-Diamonds}

Lindgren put out a pot sized bet of 32,000 and Hindin started to think…and think…and think…and think. A few minutes passed by and the other tables in the room ended their action and started to gather around. Meanwhile Hindin continued thinking…and thinking…and thinking.

"Geez, what have you got?" Asked Lindgren.

Back to Hindin, who periodically checked the clock, while continuing to think…and think… and think. After at least five minutes Lindgren calls the clock and the floor arrive. The countdown from ten started and we were thinking, "Either Hindin is completely nuts or he doesn't know it is his turn to act!"

The countdown reached zero, neither Lindgren nor Hindin moved a muscle, the dealer moved the chips towards Lindgren and the activity started to disperse, "Wait! I won the pot!" Said Hindin, "What are you talking about?" Said Lindgren.

To cut a very long story short, Hindin told the table that he had announced he was 'all-in'. Tom Marchese confirmed what Hindin was saying and both Jan Collado and Naoya Kihara said they heard Hindin say 'pot'. Neither the dealer nor Lindgren had heard Hindin, and he had not pushed any chips forward to indicate he was all-in.

"Why would I call the clock on myself?" Asked Lindgren.

The floor went to get a senior power to make a call on the hand, but the two players wanted to continue and play it out. In the end they were allowed to continue and so Hindin's pot size raise stood, Lindgren moved all-in and Hindin called. Still with us?

Lindgren{A-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} {10-Spades} {9-Diamonds}
Hindin{Q-Hearts} {Q-Spades} {8-Hearts} {5-Diamonds}

So Lindgren had the straight and the re-draw to the diamond flush draw and Hindin had a set and redraw to the hearts and full-house.

River: {2-Diamonds}

An amazing card for Hindin and tragic news for Lindgren. The {2-Diamonds} filled up Hindin and the pot - that was initially Lindgren's - now sat in front of Hindin and E-Dog was out.
