Some Pre Break Chips and a Tommy Le Hand

As we move into our first twenty-minute break here is a collection of chip counts and a hand between Tommy Le and Scott Bohlman.

We joined the action on the turn with the board showing {8-Diamonds} {2-Spades} {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs}. There was around 14,000 in the pot, Scott Bohlman defending the small blind and Tommy Le pounding away from the hijack seat. Bohlman checked, Le made a near-pot sized bet and Bohlman made the call. Jake the Dealer handed them the {5-Hearts} on the river, Bohlman checked and Le bet 25,000. Tank-time for Bohlman, who eventually made the call, and mucked when he saw the Tommy Le's hand.

Tommy Le - {Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {9-Spades} for a set of queens.

Kornuth Catches a Double

A short while ago we overheard Adam Kornuth saying, "The best thing about this game is that this (pointing at his stack) can turn into that (pointing at David Benyamine's stack) in twenty minutes."

"Probably less!" replied the Frenchman.

Both were not far from the truth as 25 minutes later we witnessed Kornuth doubling up through Benyamine.

Benyamine opened to 4,800 from the button and called when Kornuth three-bet to 16,000 from the small blind. The flop fell {2-Spades}{6-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} and Kornuth moved all in for just under the value of the pot (33k), and was called by Benyamine.

Kornuth: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Benyamine: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{10-Clubs}{4-Clubs}

The board ran out {8-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and Kortnuth gave a little fist pump.

Bryn Kenney Leaves Us & Dan Shak Doubles Up

Bryn Kenney has been eliminated
Bryn Kenney has been eliminated

With 55 players left and 42 players getting paid, we are slowly creeping towards the business end of this tournament. With that in mind let us bring you some news as we find ourselves at the midway point of Level 12.

Dan Shak has just lost a pot and then won a pot to leave him on 110,000. In the first hand Jon Hoellein raised to 3,200 in first position and Shak defended his big blind. The action was checked through to the river on a board of {Q-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {8-Spades} {K-Hearts} {10-Spades} and Hoellein extracted a small 5,000 value bet from Shak.

Hoellein{K-Spades} {K-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {4-Spades}
Shak{K-Clubs} {Q-Spades} {9-Spades} {2-Diamonds}

Then Shak doubled through Jonas Entin. The dealer was far too quick for us but we know Shak has 110,000 and Entin is down to 220,000.

In other news Bryn Kenney has been eliminated. Rory Matthews raised to 3,200 in the cutoff, Bryn Kenney three-bet to 13,900 and Mathews made the call. The flop was {A-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} and both players decided to get it in.

Mathews{A-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {3-Hearts}
Kenney{9-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {6-Hearts}

A great flop for Mathews, but it drew a 'what are you doing here anyway' look from Kenney. The turn was the {5-Hearts} and river {4-Spades} and Mathews doubled up. Kenney was left with around 13,000 and a head that was shaking from side to side.

A few hands later and Hans Winzeler put Kenney out of his misery but we didn't see the final hand.

News in Brief

  • David Benyamine has had a great start to the day. He's taken over the chip lead on 320,000 chips.
  • Mike Sexton was the shortest stack coming back today. The odds were against him and he failed to overcome them as he busted.
  • Davidi Kitai led out for 7,700 from the big blind in a four-way pot. The flop read {9-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}. Bryn Kenney and Artem Metalidi folded quickly but Rory Mathews took a lot longer too fold. "Close," he said. "Very Close."

Double for Alioto

Dario Alioto loves Pot-Limit Omaha and is one of Italy's most renowned players in the format. He'll be very happy to hang around in this tournament after a needed double up.

The chips were already being passed to Alioto when we reached the table. His {k-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} was good against Brock Parker's mucked hand on a {j-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} board.

Edit: We later heard the money went in on the flop where Parker had top set and lost out to Alioto's flush.

Entin Eliminates Haerig; Parkinson Doubles From Bastian

Jonas Entin started the day with 107,100 chips, but he is now sitting pretty behind a stack of 270,000 courtesy of a 180k pot versus Wilfried Haerig. Entin told us that he got embroiled in a three-bet pot with Haerig, on a flop of {K-} {6-} {3-}, and Haerig got it all-in with dry-aces whilst Entin had a set that held steadfast. Haerig was eliminated and Entin moves to the top of the chip counts.

Over at Table #459 Padraig Parkinson has doubled through Sebastian Bastian, who then doubled through Bahram Zohri.

Kihara's Tank Prompts Head shakes

Naoya Kihara and Tom Marchese were involved in a hand that reached the river and the pot had swelled to around 27,000 chips.

Kihara checked to Marchese who fired 18,500 into the middle. We approached the table at this point so we're not sure how long Kihara had been in the tank for but we're assuming it was too long with {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{5-Spades}.

That's because a couple of players at his table shook their heads when he finally called with the winning full house. Marchese mucked.

Brent Roberts Doubles Up Edmilson Oliveira

Former World Series of Poker (WSOP) final tablist Brent Roberts has just suffered a low after his recent elimination of Bruno Fitoussi. Roberts has just doubled up Edmilson Oliveira and this is how.

We joined the action on a flop of {K-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} {6-Hearts}, Brent Roberts checked from the big blind before Oliveira bet pot. The amount was approx. 12,600, which left Oliveira with just 2,000 behind. Roberts tanked for a while before putting Oliveira all-in but his facial expressions said it all - he wasn't happy about it.

Oliveira{A-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {6-Diamonds}
Roberts{A-Diamonds} {K-Spades} {J-Spades} {8-Clubs}

The turn {Q-Hearts} and river {8-Diamonds} improving the Oliveira hand to a flush and Roberts was back to where he started.

Kitai and Winzeler Tear Alex Outhred Apart

Davidi Kitai and Hans Winzeler have just torn Alex Outhred apart and thrown him to the rail. Firstly, it was Winzeler who took the first bite and we caught the action at showdown.

Winzeler{Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {9-Clubs}
Outhred{A-Hearts} {8-Spades} {5-Hearts} {4-Spades}

Board: {10-Spades} {8-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} {J-Hearts}

That hand left Outhred with just a few thousand chips and Davidi Kitai took them off him a few hands later.
