Hellmuth Steamed & Eliminated

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
Phil Hellmuth steaming.
Phil Hellmuth steaming.

We caught Phil Hellmuth open for 900 and action folded around to Vitor Coelho in the big blind - who called. The flop came {3-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} and Coelho check-called 1,600. The turn came {J-Spades} and both players checked. The river brought the {3-Hearts}, Coelho bet 4,500 and Hellmuth tossed in a call.

Coelho tabled {9-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} for a straight and Hellmuth was beside himself. "Is this real?" Hellmuth wondered aloud, followed by some hushed and muttered curses. "F@#% man, what a bad beat," he mumbled before releasing his cards.

By time we finished typing the post we saw Hellmuth get up and leave the tournament after being eliminated.

Silver Wins Table 39

We have our first winner in Event 36: $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout.

Max Silver was heads up with Jeff Shulman on Table 39, and Silver had a large lead. Silver extended the lead when he made jacks-full in a hand, and Shulman was left with less than ten big blinds. The two got all the chips in pre flop a few minutes later, and the hands were opened.

Silver{q-Clubs}{7-Hearts}
Shulman{k-Clubs}{q-Spades}

The board ran out {6-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs}......{7-Spades}, eliminating Shulman from the tournament, and sending Silver into Day 2.

Koon Crushes Opponent

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

A short-stacked opponent moved all in over a raise from Jason Koon, and the action folded back to Koon who reached for chips to call.

"I have a pretty one, buddy," Koon told his opponent.

Koon tabled {j-Spades}{10-Spades}, and was very much alive against his opponent's {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}. The {2-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{j-Hearts} flop propelled him into the lead, and the turn and river bricked {9-Diamonds}, {6-Spades} respectively.

Table 47 is now four-handed, with Koon, Tristan Wade, and two others looking to advance to Day 2.
