Esfandiari Calls Three Streets with Ace-High, Busts Ramage

Antonio Esfandiari opened to 1,200 with the button, and Grayson Ramage three-bet to 3,600. Esfandiari called.

The dealer fanned {5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{k-Hearts}, and Ramage tanked for a bit before leading out for 2,700. Esfandiari tank-called.

The turn was the {3-Hearts}, and Ramage tanked again. He dropped 5,300 in front of him, and Esfandiari stared him down. He eventually gathered five yellow T1,000 chips and three black T100 chips, and threw them forward.

The {4-Hearts} completed the board, and Ramage moved all in for a pot-sized bet. Esfandiari studied Ramage more intensely than he had on the first two streets, and eventually made the call.

Ramage tabled {9-}{6-} for nine-high, and Esfandiari showed {a-Hearts}{j-Spades} for ace-high. Ramage left the Brasilia Room, and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier gave Esfandiari props for the call.

"These wizards think they can run me over," Esfandiari told us, grinning.

Esfandiari and Grospellier are now heads up for a trip to Day 2.

Waco Busted

Jared "TheWacoKidd" Hamby has been eliminated from Event 36: $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout. Hamby three-bet jammed from the blinds with {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}, and his opponent called with {k-Spades}{q-Spades}.

The {2-Spades}{8-Hearts}{8-Spades} flop gave his opponent a flush draw to go with his two overcards, and the {9-Spades} on the turn gave him said flush. Hamby needed an eight or a six to survive, but another nine - the {9-Diamonds} - bricked on the river, eliminating him from the event.
