2012 World Series of Poker
Omaha-8
Much has been documented about Andy Bloch finally winning his first bracelet this summer and we are sure he will be looking to win his second very soon. He's still in contention today, but recently lost a small pot to Nacho Barbero.
The hand in question began when Barbero opened up the pot with a raise from under the gun. The player in the small blind made the call, along with Bloch in the big blind.
The

flop would see the small blind check, Bloch bet and then Barbero raise. The small blind got out of the way and Bloch called. When the
was dealt on the turn, Bloch checked and Barbero bet. It took Bloch quite some time to make his decision, but he eventually opted to fold, sending the pot to Barbero.
While this was only a small pot, Barbero has managed to see his chip stack sit quite healthy during these early stages of the day.

Back in 1996, Gary Benson won his first and only World Series of Poker gold bracelet in a Stud event. Since then he has amassed close to $1 million in tournament winnings around the world. He returned to the felt today, but hasn't had a great start, with his stack almost halved in the last hour.
We recently watched Benson battle it out with Hooman Nikzad in a hand of Stud 8. Here is how the cards looked.

Nikzad: ![]() / ![]() ![]() ![]() / ![]() |

We came to the action on fourth street, with one player checking and Nikzad leading out. Gary Benson called, so too did the other player and we took to fifth street. This time the first player would check-fold to another bet from Nikzad and Benson would again call. on sixth street, Nikzad opted to check call a bet from Benson and the final card was dealt. This time both players checked and Benson turned over

, enough for the low, while Nikzad held a fifth club to make a flush for the high. The two players split a small profit. Every chip counts for Benson right now.

We reached Table 449 on sixth street, where Clayton Newman was calling a bet, and three players were headed to seventh.

On seventh street, the action checked to Gregorich, who bet. Newman unhappily folded, and Lefkowitz called.
"Am I getting scooped?" Lefkowitz asked.
Gregorich nodded, tabling

.
"Aces-up and a seventy-six," Lefkowitz announced, mucking his hand.

We just watched Jeet Shetty chop two hands in a row. The first one was against Bryan Devonshire and saw Shetty the aggressor on every street of a

board. Devonshire check-called every street and then took half the pot holding

for the low. Shetty held

for the full house and the high end of the pot.
The next hand Shetty and one opponent played it out on a

board. It ended up being chopped up again as Shetty's stack remained unchanged over the course of the two hands. Despite these two chopped pots, Shetty's stack has seen a slight decrease since the start of the day.

Barry Greenstein has already made two final tables during this year's World Series of Poker, but he will need to do some work in this event if he wants to make it a third.
We recently watched Greenstein open up the pot during a hand of Omaha 8. He then called the three-bet of the opponent directly on his left and a

flop was dealt. Greenstein checked here and his opponent bet. Greenstein looked at his cards for a few moments and then decided to let his hand go, leaving himself with a stack of just 8,000.

"And the first walk of the day, goes to!" Perry Friedman exclaimed out of the big blind, as the action folded around to the player in the small blind.
However, the small blind would not oblige, flicking in enough to make the call. The

flop was spread on the felt and the small blind check-called a bet from Friedman. Both players then checked the
turn and then do the same on the
river.
Friedman tabled his

, with his straight enough to scoop the pot. Readers may recall that Friedman finished in fourth place in Event 10: $5,000 Stud a couple of weeks ago.
