Although this hand was split when Barbero held in the hole for two-pair and Danzer held for an eighty-six low, their stacks have recently been going in the opposite direction.
Yuval Bronshtein started the day with less than 20,000 in chips, but has managed to see that stack increase to one of the largest in the room. For those that aren't familiar with Bronshtein, let us tell you that he has 17 World Series of Poker cashes on his resume, including a final table in 2007.
Two players, including Kosei Ichinose, just busted on Table 453. They already had an open seat, and weren't allowed to deal with only five players.
"So what are we waiting for?" Mary Jones asked.
The five players, including Jones and Ralph Levy, waited for over three minutes before they received a sixth player, and were allowed to continue playing.
"Thank you," Jones told the man. "We were about to get pissy."
The nature of today's event is that a huge amount of pots are split between the player with the best high hand and the player with the best low hand. We just watched this happen during both variants of games.
Omaha-8
This hand was between Bryan Devonshire and one opponent and it started when the player in the cutoff opened up the pot. Devonshire called and the dealer readied some cards.
Board:
Devonshire's opponent check-called a bet on every street and then watched Devonshire table for a straight. His opponent held , with the ace-three enough to give him the low half of the pot.
Stud-8
Bryan Micon: / /
Opponent: / /
We arrived at the table on fifth street, with Bryan Micon check-calling a bet from one opponent. He did the same on sixth and again on seventh. Micon's hole cards saw him have an eighty-seven low, while his opponent held a flush to take the other side of the pot.
Yuebin Guo had the button, and raised. Perry Friedman called in the small blind, and so did Amnon Filippi from the big. The flop fell , and Friedman led out. Filippi raised, and Guo called. Friedman called as well, and the turn brought a third heart - the . Friedman checked, Filippi bet, and both Guo and Friedman called.
The completed the board, and all three players checked. Filippi tabled , and both of his opponents mucked.
"Ship it to daddy!" Filippi exclaimed. "Its a stick-up!"
Despite managing to split a pot holding a seventy-six low against the two-pair of an opponent (another player was eliminated during this hand) , Bryan Micon has seen stack halved during the last couple of hours.
For those that aren't familiar with Micon, he has 13 World Series of Poker cashes, two of which have come this year. He was also at the final table of the $1,500 H.O.R.S.E event in 2009 - so he is certainly no stranger to games such as the two we are playing today.
