Chip Leader

The current chip lead belongs to Adria Baliaguer who sits with well over 100,000. Baliaguer has already proven he can make deep runs in this year's World Series of Poker placing third in Event 19: $1,500 No-Limit Event 19: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em.

Baliaguer is no stranger to the poker scene. This Spanish pro has a WPT second place under his belt from Prague, and a 9th place EPT finish.

Jimmy Born Leads The Gold Section; Devonshire Hurt

The biggest score that Jimmy Born has ever recorded was his $14,099 earned in a World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) event held in Atlantic City back in December. He finished in 11th place in that tournament and he is currently leading the big boys - and not so big girls - in the Gold Section of the Brasilia Room with 68,000 chips.

Not far behind Born is the World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner Shankar Pillai. Pillai took down the $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em event back in 2007 for $527,829. To win that bracelet Pillai had to best a final table including the one and only Phil Hellmuth. Pillai is sat on 65,000 chips.

Bryan Devonshire only wishes that he had 65,000 chips! The former poker dealer has just been reduced to 10,000 chips in unfortunate circumstances. Michael McNeill moved all-in for 6,475 and Devonshire called.

McNeill{A-Hearts} {8-Diamonds}
Devonshire{K-Hearts} {K-Clubs}

So Devonshire just needed to fade the ace, and he didn't do a very good job of it.

Board: {A-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {J-Spades} {Q-Hearts}

Devonshire down to 20BB.

Three Bust Outs

Dennis Phillips
Dennis Phillips

A short stacked Christina Lindley moved all in from the cut off for 4,650 and found a caller in the small blind player. The big blind folded and the players flipped over their cards.

Lindley: {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Opponent: {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}

The board came {6-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{8-Spades}{6-Spades} and Lindley's queen high came up second best. Ace high was good enough to send Lindley packing and she said her good byes and left.

A few tables over JJ Liu's day ended. We don't know what happened, but we know her chips were pushed over to another player.

A few tables over from that sat Dennis Phillips who faced a bet 1,100. Phillips opted to three-bet all in and pushed the rest of his 9,000 stack in the middle. A call was made and Phillips was at risk.

Phillips: {A-Spades}{k-}
Opponent: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}

The board came {10-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{5-Spades}{8-Hearts}{j-Hearts} eliminating Phillips. The ever kind Phillips wish everyone good luck and made his gracious exit.

Selbst Soars

The flop read {k-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{8-Spades} and Vanessa Selbst bet out. Her opponent on the button then raised, and Selbst three-bet all in. The shorter stacked button player made the call and was at risk.

Selbst: {k-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
Opponent: {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}

Selbst was ahead for now, but any ace or any heart would change that. The {9-Spades} on the turn was the perfect card for Selbst. Now all the button could hit would be a non-nine heart.

The {a-Clubs} on the river allowed for Selbst to breathe easy as she was awarded the pot.

Craig McCorkell doubles up

World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner Craig McCorkell has just taken his seat after dinner and doubled up in his first hand. The board ran out {J-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {2-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {9-Clubs} and McCorkell moved up to 15,000.

Erick Lindgren Has Been Eliminated

No luck for E-Dog
No luck for E-Dog

Joseph Gualtieri has just eliminated Erick Lindgren, but it took two bites of the cherry to finish him off.

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet holder was all-in for around 4,400 and he had his opponent, Gualtieri, covered by a mere 150 chips.

Gualtieri{A-Spades} {K-Spades}
Lindgren{A-Hearts} {10-Hearts}

Board: {7-Spades} {9-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {J-Clubs}

Lindgren was left with 150 chips and Gualtieri had a little over 10,000. In the next hand Lindgren placed his 50 ante in the middle and mucked. Then he placed his 50 ante in the middle and was all-in for the other 50. Toby Lewis opened to 800 in first position, but he was forced to fold after Gualtieri raised to 2,400. Gualtieri showed {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds}, Lindgren showed {Q-Spades} {3-Spades}, and despite a scare on the {K-Hearts} {J-Spades} {4-Spades} flop, Lindgren was out when the {A-Clubs} {5-Hearts} bricked for him on the turn and river.

Brunelli Busts

Annie Duke
Annie Duke

Annie Duke is in the field nursing a short stack sharing a few insights with her table and Dennis Phillips. Melanie Weisner is also in the same boat sitting with around 4,000 over in the bronze section. Randy Lew is also in the Bronze section, but seems to be moving in the other direction. With over 20,000 Lew continues to gather chips and put himself in great position.

We don't know exactly how the action went, but we do know after a series of raises Diego Brunelli was all in and at risk preflop.

Brunelli: {10-}{10-}
Opponent: {K-}{k-}

The board came {5-}{2-}{8-}{5-}{6-} and Brunelli was eliminated when his pair of tens couldn't find any help.

Phil Ivey Has Been Eliminated

Multi-tabling is too much even for Ivey
Multi-tabling is too much even for Ivey

Phil Ivey has just jumped into his seat during a lull in Event #45: $50,000 Poker Players Championship and it must have ben a hot one, because he has jumped right back out of it again. Jonas Wexler was the man who sent Phil Ivey packing in a three way all-in. Wexler held {K-} {K-}, Ivey (who had moved all-in over the Wexler raise) held {Q-} {J-} and the third person in the hand (who was also all-in) held {K-} {Q-}. Wexler eliminated both opponents and moved up to 27,000 chips. Ivey can now put his full attention back onto the $50,000 Players Championship.

Good Read

Mike Leah started out a recent hand by raising it up and finding callers from both the blinds preflop.

The flop came {7-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and both the blinds checked. Leah was next took act and fired out a bet of 1,200. Only the small blind was willing to pay the price to see the turn. The {6-Clubs} on fourth street saw both players being cautious of one another with two checks.

The {10-Clubs} on the river brought with it a 3,025 bet from the small blind. Leah took his time eyeballing the pot and measuring out his own chips for depositing a call. Eventually Leah did indeed make the call and the small blind quickly mucked his cards.

Once Leah was assured that he was awarded the pot he flipped over {A-Diamonds}{k-Spades} for a simple ace high.
