Do is Done in 21st

Chantelle Do
Chantelle Do

Chantelle Do survived with a short stack for the first hour of play after the dinner break, but finally ran out of luck in a hand versus Yen Dang. Dang opened from the button for 12,000, then Do reraised all in for 56,600 from the small blind, and Dang called.

Do: {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
Dang: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}

The flop came {4-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}, pairing Dang, and after the {6-Hearts} turn and {4-Spades} river, Do was out in 21st.

Kerstetter Knocked Out

Jamie Kerstetter
Jamie Kerstetter

Jamie Kerstetter was all in for 54,500 and at risk holding {K-Spades}{10-Diamonds} versus Lesley Amos's {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}. The board brought a ten, but a nine, too, coming {4-Clubs}{9-Spades}{J-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{A-Clubs}, and Kerstetter hit the rail having secured the first spot inside the top 20 finishers.

Boutros Bounced; 18 Remain

In the third of a rapid succession of eliminations, Lara Boutros is our 19th-place finisher after having the last of her short stack claimed by Candida Ross-Powers.

Boutros chose to commit her final 60,000 or so with {A-Spades}{3-Clubs} from middle position, but Ross-Powers had woken up with {J-Spades}{J-Hearts} in the small blind. The board came {6-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{6-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}, and Boutros becomes the last of those to cash for $5,155.

The final 18 are now redrawing for seats around the last two tables.

Monica Hinojosa Eliminated in 17th Place ($6,267); Erika Weinstein Eliminated in 18th Place ($6,267)

Monica Hinojosa - 17th place
Monica Hinojosa - 17th place

Erika Weinstein found herself all in from middle position before the flop for her last 16,000 against three opponents — Yen Dang, Monica Hinojosa, and Peg Ledman.

The flop came {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}. Dang was first to act and checked, then Hinojosa bet 35,000, forcing a fold from Ledman. Dang responded with a reraise-shove, and Hinojosa called with her remaining chips.

Dang: {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}
Hinojosa: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}
Weinstein: {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}

Weinstein had flopped trip eights and was ahead for the main pot, while Hinojosa had the current lead for the side pot with her aces. Meanwhile, Dang was looking for a non-pairing diamond to beat them both.

The turn was the {Q-Clubs}. "Deuce of clubs!" requested Weinstein for a river card. Alas for her — and for Hinojosa — fifth street brought the {3-Diamonds}, giving Dang the flush and a double-knockout.

Myra Thompson Eliminated in 16th Place ($6,267)

Myra Thompson - 16th place
Myra Thompson - 16th place

Myra Thompson just committed her short stack before the flop with {K-Spades}{Q-Spades} and was hoping to catch versus Peg Ledman's {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. The flop was good for Thompson, coming {K-Clubs}{10-Spades}{3-Spades} to give her the better pair between the two. The turn was fine for Thompson, too, coming {8-Hearts}.

But the river brought the {10-Clubs} to improve Ledman to trips, and Thompson is out in 16th.

Gaelle Baumann Eliminated in 15th Place ($7,716)

Gaelle Baumann - 15th place
Gaelle Baumann - 15th place

Gaelle Baumann entered today as the chip leader with 117 players remaining, and managed to outlast more than 100 of her opponents before finally falling in a hand versus Angela Moed.

All in with {A-Clubs}{2-Spades} versus Moed's {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, the community cards came {5-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{4-Spades}{K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}, meaning Moed's eights were still best and Baumann was out in 15th.

Big Pot for Pechac

We just saw a big swing of chips in a hand between Debbie Pechac and Yen Dang.

After Pechac opened with a raise to 30,000, Yen Dang reraised all in, and Pechac called, tabling {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs} versus Dang's {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}. The flop was the {7-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts} and turn the {6-Diamonds}, and Pechac was down to three outs to win, plus a few to chop.

Then came the river… the {Q-Spades}! Rather than Dang having a stack of more than 600,000, now Pechac has the greater number of chips between the two.

"Thanks for the queen, dealer!" said an appreciative Pechac.

Mona Harb Eliminated in 14th Place ($7,716)

Mona Harb - 14th place
Mona Harb - 14th place

We're seeing a rush of eliminations here as Level 18 comes to a close, with the short stacks putting their chips at risk frequently.

Just now Mona Harb opened for 15,000 from under the gun, then Candida Ross-Powers reraised all in from the cutoff. It folded back to Harb who called right away, turning over {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}. Ross-Powers had {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}, and five cards later — {5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} — her sevens were still best.

Peg Ledman Eliminated in 13th Place ($7,716)

Peg Ledman - 13th place
Peg Ledman - 13th place

Debbie Pechac opened with a raise to 20,000 from under the gun, and it folded to Peg Ledman in the cutoff who reraised to 50,000. The action back on Pechac, she reraised all in and Ledman called for her entire stack of 155,000.

Pechac: {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}
Ledman: {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}

The flop came {Q-Hearts}{A-Spades}{10-Hearts}, pairing Pechac's queen though actually giving Ledman an extra out. But the turn was the {7-Clubs} and river the {9-Spades}, and just a dozen players remain.
