Day 2 of Event 57: $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em – Six-Handed is in the books, and after 10 more levels of play, Christopher Brammer is the chip leader with 1,467,000 chips and 27 players remaining.

The day started with 167 of the original 474 players, and a little less than three quarters of them left empty-handed. Among the players who busted before the money bubble were Lex Veldhuis, Taylor Paur, Steve Bilirakis, Andrew Badecker, Nick Schulman, Dan Smith, Hiren “Sunny” Patel, Eugene Todd, Joseph Cheong, Isaac Haxton, Dwyte Pilgrim, Haralabos Voulgaris and our bubble boy, Ryan D’Angelo.

D’Angelo was all in and at risk holding {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}, and Sam Chartier had {J-Clubs}{J-Spades}. The board ran out {8-Clubs}{2-Spades}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}, and D’Angelo stone-bubbled.

The eliminations were fast and furious once the bubble burst and 48 players quickly turned into 27 in three hours. Among those who cashed, but busted on the day, were Jonathan Duhamel, William Reynolds, Kevin Stammen, Amit Makhija, Thiago Nishijima and the aforementioned Chartier. Chartier called an all in from Nick Maimone with ace-high, and was drawing dead on a board of {3-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}. Maimone held {6-Spades}{5-Spades}, and ended the night with just over a million chips.

Joining Maimone and Brammer at the top of the counts are Stanislav Barshak (1,024,000), Carter Phillips (928,000), Frederik Jensen (898,000) and Timothy Adams (831,000). Also in the hunt are Jason Mercier (525,000), Eugene Katchalov (272,000), Tony Hachem (427,000) and Kyle Julius (430,000).

Play resumes tomorrow at 1:00 PM local time. Until then, good night from the World Series of Poker!
