Filippi Tanks to Fold

Amnon Filippi has just taken part in the largest hand here on the bubble, with almost every player in the room out of their chairs to try and get a glimpse of the action.

We arrived at the action with a {8-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{q-Hearts} flop out on the felt and with Loren Klein leading out with a bet of 8,000. Amnon Filippi then raised it up to 25,000 and Klein called. On the {9-Spades} turn, Klein led for 22,000 and Filippi called. The {4-Diamonds} was the final card to hit the felt and at this point, Klein made a pot-sized bet, which was enough to put Filippi all in.

Filippi thought for a long time, uttering many things under his breathe while trying to decide what to do. Eventually he opted to fold and the rest of the tables fired back up after waiting patiently for Filippi to make his decision.

Gordon Doubles on the Bubble

John Gordon was all in preflop for 10,500 and called by Brad Peeples in the small blind. The tournament staff held the action until the rest of the tables were finished, and then the cards were turned up:

Showdown

Peeples{A-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{6-Spades}
Gordon{A-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}

The board ran out {5-Spades}{J-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and Gordon took down the pot with trip fives, much to the delight of his supporters on the rail. It looks like Gordon has punched his ticket into the money.

Hand-for-Hand

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

With just 55 players remaining, this tournament has gone hand-for-hand. The next player eliminated will be going home empty handed as our "bubble boy".

Adding Insult to Injury for Wood

Matthew Wood got all in on a flop of {2-Clubs}{8-Spades}{3-Hearts} and was at risk against Josh Field.

Showdown

Field{A-Spades}{4-Spades}{9-Hearts}{5-Spades}
Wood{A-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{6-Clubs}

Both players held the nut low, while Wood's ace-king was ahead for the high. The {Q-Spades} kept Wood in the lead and he was primed to take 3/4 of the pot, but destiny had other plans as the {9-Clubs} spiked to give Field a pair of nines and 3/4 of the pot. Just like that, Wood was left with just 12,000.

A few seconds later, Wood's phone went off and he received an invitation to Antonio Esfandiari's celebration party for winning the Big One for One Drop. The problem? It was a day late.

"Now that's just adding insult to injury," Wood said after the hand.

Sklar Chipping Up, Su Still in Great Shape

Richard Sklar and Stephen Su have just played a small hand that went Sklar's way, with Sklar currently sitting behind a fairly healthy stack as we head toward the money bubble. The hand in question saw Su and Sklar take to a {3-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{9-Spades} flop in a raised pot. Su was first to act here and opted to check. Sklar then confidently bet 17,000 and Su went into the tank. After almost a minute of thinking, Su folded his hand and sent the pot to Skar.

Binger Battling Near Bubble

Nick Binger has just lost a fair chunk of his chips, with an all in situation holding {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} against a short stacked opponent's {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} has seen a big dent left in his stack. We didn't see when all the chips went in, but we did see the {3-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{q-Hearts} board on the felt, giving Binger's opponent a rivered flush to see Binger's cards into the muck.

Alioto's Not Afraid of Dr. Kamikaze

With around 22,000 in the pot and a board reading {9-Hearts}{3-Spades}{10-Clubs}{5-Spades}, Kami "Dr. Kamikaze" Chisholm bet 15,000 from the big blind position and received a call from Dario Alioto on the button.

The {2-Hearts} peeled off on the river and Chisholm checked, prompting Alioto to move all in for 30,500. Chisholm gave it about a half a minute worth of thought and then tossed her cards to the muck.
