Let's Play Poker

Level 7 : 150/300, 25 ante

Players are back in their seats and Level 7 has begun.

As mentioned earlier, the plan tonight will be to play five more one-hour levels or until just 15% of the original starting field for this first of the two Day 1s remains. We started with 1,740, which means once the field gets down to 261 we'll be at the 15% mark — a little over 200 eliminations away.

Incidentally, we know that as of right now more than 1,100 have already signed up for Thursday's Day 1b, a number that is sure to grow considerably between now and tomorrow afternoon.

Level: 7

Blinds: 150/300

Ante: 25

Chow Time!

Level 6 : 100/200, 25 ante

It's time to eat and players are being sent on a 90 minute dinner break. Cards will be in the air at 8:15 p.m. PST.

Seed Back At It

"Hi, Huck," said a dealer passing by Huck Seed's table. "Sorry to see you here... it means you're not in the Omaha."

Indeed, the 1996 WSOP Main Event champion busted earlier today from Event 58: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Low Split 8-or-Better, shy of the cash in that one.

Here he's doing what he can to improve on that finish, just now raising to 400 after an early position player limped. The big blind and limper called, then all three checked down the {9-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{K-Spades} flop, {7-Diamonds} turn, and {A-Hearts} river. The limper showed {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}, good enough to take the pot.

Seed has accumulated some chips here, however, as he tries again to win a fifth WSOP bracelet.

Level 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

You've probably seen poker pros talking about Onnit Labs, Alpha Brain. But what is it, and how can it help you at the tables? Well, since we know poker players like details, we'll get all scientific on ya here.

The idea behind the Alpha Brain dietary supplement was to create the first ever fully balanced nootropic. Alpha GPC and Huperzia Serrata maximize acetylcholine levels while other ingredients assist in elevating dopamine and GABA levels, crucial components to remaining calm, focused, and mentally driven. Our vinpocetine assists in delivering oxygen and nutrients to the brain via increased blood flow, and the combination of neuro-specific antioxidants, led by our proprietary AC-11® helps to clear away mental fog and reduce free radical burden.

No Diamonds, Seeking Gold

Ken Aldridge
Ken Aldridge

The river card had been dealt and the board read {6-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. Four players, including Ken Aldridge, sporting his familiar yellow jacket and yellow cap, were still vying for the pot.

It checked to Aldridge, owner of one gold WSOP bracelet ($1,500 short-handed no-limit hold'em, 2009) who started to grab some chips, then with a mischievous grin checked instead, and the lone remaining player checked as well.

The big blind tabled {K-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}, good enough as his opponents all mucked, then together chuckled about the relative lack of diamonds among them.

Red Gone, Bronze Breaking

Level 6 : 100/200, 25 ante

The Red Section has been completely broken and Bronze has had one row of tables break. We expect that the Bronze section will last another level and a half before becoming empty.
