Checking Up On Shaniac

We caught up to Shane "Shaniac" Schleger's table to find him heads up in a pot with a board of {5-Clubs}{3-Spades}{4-Hearts}{5-Spades}. Schleger's opponent checked to him and Schleger checked right back.

The board completed with the {8-Spades} and two more checks occurred. Schleger showed {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} for ace-king high and his opponent mucked his hand. The internet superstar is now sitting on a stack of 37,000.

Dang Drags a Pot

Yen Dang, who won this year's Ladies Event , opened for 800 from the cutoff seat and was called by the player in the big blind.

Both players checked the {K-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{6-Clubs} flop, however, when the {A-Clubs} fell on the turn, Dang's opponent checked again, prompting a 1,100 bet from Dang. Her opponent called.

The {K-Diamonds} completed the board and Dang's opponent led into her for 6,000. Dang called and her opponent tabled {A-Spades}{7-Diamonds} for a counterfeited two-pair. Dang tabled {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} for two-pair with a superior kicker and scooped the pot.

Dang is up to 48,300.

Oppenheim Doing Fine

David Oppenheim has just taken down a small pot over on his table and we were there to catch all the action from the {3-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}. By the time we were there, Opponeheim was checked and his opponent was flicking out a pot-sized bet of 2,025. Oppenheim made the call and then both players checked the {8-Diamonds} turn.

On the {10-Diamonds} river, Oppenheim tumbled out 16,000 - enough to put his opponent all in. The player folded pretty quickly and Oppenheim raked in the small pot.

Oppenheim will be looking to make a deep run here in the Main Event, especially after getting oh, so close to the final table of Event 45: $50,000 Poker Players Championship.

Brunson Update

Doyle Brunson
Doyle Brunson

With around 5,300 in the pot and a flop of {3-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{3-Spades}, Doyle Brunson checked from the small blind and then called a bet of 2,400 from his opponent on the button. When the dealer burned and turned the {2-Hearts}, Brunson checked again, but this time he snap-folded to a bet of 5,100.

Moneymaker Won't Be Sparking Another Poker Boom

Chris Moneymaker
Chris Moneymaker

The 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event champ, Chris Moneymaker, raised to 1,500 from under the gun and cleared the field all the way to Marty Zabib, who made the call from the small blind. Hank Farrell then three-bet to around 6,800 from the big blind, Moneymaker called off for the same amount, and Zabib came along for the ride.

The two active players proceeded to check it down as the board ran out {7-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{J-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and Zabib rolled over {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for trips. Farrell simply mucked while Moneymaker showed {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} before taking his exit from the 2012 WSOP Main Event.
