Pollak Trips One Up

With a raise from the player under the gun to 4,600 and a call from the next seat over before him, Kevin Pollak three-bet to 12,000 from the cutoff. Action folded back around to the two early-position players who both called.

The {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{10-Spades} flop was checked around. When the {8-Spades} turn fell, action was checked to Pollak who bet 17,000. Only the preflop caller tagged along and checked the {10-Clubs} river.

"I'm supposed to bet a lot," said Pollak. Instead, he checked and tabled {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for trips.

His opponent mucked and Pollak took down the pot.

Baumann Falls Out of Chip Lead

Gaelle Baumann
Gaelle Baumann

It's been difficult to get access to the chip leader to start the day, Gaelle Baumann, as the ESPN crews have been set up to film the action at her table in the Blue section.

However, we were recently able to see a hand where she made it 4,000 from the hijack. Baumann received a call from the big blind and the flop came down {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}. Both players checked and did the same on the {A-Spades} turn.

Baumann's opponent fired out 4,500 on the {5-Diamonds} river and Baumann shook her head and mucked her cards. She has now fallen out of the chip lead and is sitting on 518,000 in chips.

Wolpert Wipes Out Warne

A raise and three callers meant a pot of about 18,000 and four players to see a flop come {7-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{J-Clubs}. Shane Warne checked from the blinds, the two middle position players checked, and Leo Wolpert bet 12,300 from the cutoff seat. Wolpert, incidentally, is another of those participating in the Onnit Last Sticker Standing Challenge, the winner of which will earn $5,000 for being the last player wearing an Onnit sticker standing in the Main Event.

The former Australian cricketer looked at Wolpert's bet, then Warne raised to 30,000, chasing the two other players. Wolpert sat quietly for a moment, then said he was all in and Warne immediately called with the 120,000 or so he had left.

Warne: {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts}
Wolpert: {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}

Warne had top pair and the nut flush draw, while Wolpert had a set of jacks. The turn was the {10-Diamonds} and river the {6-Spades}, and Warne is out.

Barron Busto

Earl Barron during Day 1c
Earl Barron during Day 1c

A player opened for 4,500 from early position and action folded over to a very short-stacked Earl Barron, who pushed all in for his last 10,000 from the hijack seat. The player on the button then moved all in himself for just under 50,000 and everyone else folded - including the original raiser.

Barron: {A-Hearts}{3-Spades}
Opponent: {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}

"I need a three," the seven-foot NBA star said as he stood up from the table.

The {J-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} board kept Barron behind and he shook hands with his tablemates before heading to the exit.

Boatman Raises Bardah Off the River

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Ronnie Bardah opened with a raise to 4,400 from under the gun and Barny Boatman reraised from the hijack seat to 12,400. Action folded back to Bardah and he made the call to see the {10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop.

On the flop, Bardah checked and Boatman bet 11,500. Bardah called and the dealer placed the {5-Clubs} on the turn. Both players checked.

The river completed the board with the {Q-Diamonds} and Bardah led with a bet of 12,500. Boatman got a count on the amount of the bet by asking the dealer, then fired in a raise to 31,000. Bardah thought for a minute or so, then folded. Boatman showed just the {A-Spades} and raked in the pot.

Yang Shoves, Collects

Two players, including Jerry Yang playing from under the gun, saw a flop come {9-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}, and Yang led for 16,000. His opponent sitting in middle position thought a moment, then called. The turn was the {2-Hearts}, and this time Yang bet 32,000. Again his opponent paused, then called the bet.

The river brought the {3-Clubs} and an all-in shove from Yang. His opponent took a long time before acting, waiting almost three minutes before finally folding his hand, at which point Yang let out a short yell and fist pump, suggesting the fold was most certainly a desired response.

Yang moves up over 200,000 with that one.
