Nguyen Bests Saraf

Level 3 : 200/400, 0 ante

We arrived at the table to find Steve Saraf all in for his tournament life before the flop. Saraf held {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts} but was crushed by Don Nguyen's {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}.

The board fell {4-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and Nguyen's bullets were able to hold, securing him a first round victory.

Ladouceur Doubles

Level 2 : 100/300, 0 ante

Both Jonathan Duhamel and Marc-Andre Ladouceur have yet to dip into their add-ons, but we found Ladouceur all in for his first bullet holding {A-Spades}{9-Diamonds} before the flop. Ladouceur's hand was crushing Duhamel's {A-Clubs}{6-Clubs}.

The board ran out {4-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{j-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} and Ladouceur was able to double to around 16,600 with two add-ons back. Duhamel is now sitting on about 3,400 with two add-ons.

Jason Mo is No Mo'

Level 2 : 100/300, 0 ante

The action is heating up and players are standing to shake hands, signalling the end of another heads-up match.

This time it was Douglas Polk who vanquished Jason Mo, and as the runner-up in this event last year, Mo's brief run here in 2013 comes as a slight surprise.

Polk has stamped his ticket to Round 2, and with considering the brevity of his match with Mo, Polk will be well rested entering the next stage of the tournament.

Brandon Meyers Says "Ciao" to Chou Chou

Level 2 : 100/300, 0 ante

We noticed a dealer packing up his well, and two empty seats at Table #350, which could only mean that the match between Brandon Meyers and Chou Chou had come to a quick conclusion.

Although we missed the bustout hand, Meyers was victorious party, and he will return at 8:00pm PST to compete in Round 2 action.

Negreanu Drops Knowledge (And a Small Pot)

Level 2 : 100/300, 0 ante

Passing by Daniel Negreanu's table recently, we heard the longtime pro engaging in a bit of the banter that has made him famous with poker fans around the world.

When a player in the other match at Table #351 mentioned that his parents didn't like him playing poker, Negreanu chimed in with his best impression of his own mother, saying "my Mom used to be the same way, told me 'Daniel, I do not like you playing that game' ... then I bought her a house, a car. She loves poker now."

While this conversation occurred, Negreanu's opponent Bruce Lin took down a small pot with the board reading {8-Clubs}{j-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}. Lin bet 1,600 at "Kid Poker," who deliberated for a few moments before looking Lin up. With {8-Spades}{9-Clubs}, Lin's single pair was good enough, and he inched closer to purchasing his own properties and automobiles.
