Calderaro KO's Kovalchuk

Level 5 : 400/800, 0 ante

Holding {A-Diamonds}{J-Spades} against Oleksii Kovalchuk's {K-}{7-}, and with all the chips in the middle before the flop, James Calderaro was in good shape to notch the knockout and advance out of the first round.

A jack-high board changed nothing, and the best hand held up, sending Calderaro on to Round 2.

Trickett Sends Lamb to Slaughter

Level 4 : 300/600, 0 ante

Ben Lamb got the last of his short stack in with {K-}{10-} before the flop. Unfortunately for the 2011 World Series of Poker Player of the Year, Sam Trickett called and had him crushed with {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts}.

Trickett kept his lead on the {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{5-Hearts} flop and never let go as the {8-Clubs} fell on fourth street and the {Q-Hearts} on fifth. Trickett was able to secure the victory while Lamb made a quick exit from the tournament area.

Level 4 : 300/600, 0 ante

We arrived at the table to find all of the chips being pushed toward Max Silver as he clinched a victory over Ayaz Mahmood.

Simultaneously, on the opposite side of the room, Keith Tilston was all in holding {A-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} against Matt Marafioti's {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}. The board ran out {10-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{J-Spades}{5-Clubs}{5-Spades} and Marafioti was able to achieve a first-round victory.

Touil Tangling With Ivey

Level 3 : 200/400, 0 ante

French pro Fabrice Touil is showing that he will not be cowed by one of poker's most intimidating forces.

Touil raised preflop, making it 3,200 to go, and Ivey came along to see the flop fall {j-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}. Touil then led out for 5,300, and Ivey tossed out three chips for a raise, pumping the action to 11,000. Undeterred by Ivey's characteristic aggression, Touil moved all-in over the top, and Ivey wasted no time in mucking his hand.
