Dempsey Eliminated; Collects His Pay Slip

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
James Dempsey on day 1
James Dempsey on day 1

Blake Purvis had James Dempsey at risk when Dempsey held {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and Purvis held {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}. Dempsey was good on the flop {10-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and he was also good on the turn {8-Diamonds}. But unfortunately for Dempsey the river came the {j-Clubs} giving Purvis the bigger straight. Dempsey started walking away but the table called back for him. He still needed to collect his pay slip. Dempsey joked that he has never lasted long enough to get a pay slip and this was all new for him. The whole table laughed and Fempsey got his pay slip and exited while Purvis stacked up his winning of 122,000

Frazer Grabs Chips

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Ian Frazer just missed his open-ended, but still ended up winning a nice little pot. On {10-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{4-Clubs} we saw him check-call a 4,300 bet. Frazer, in the big blind, checked to the hijack on the {10-Diamonds} on the turn. His opponent checked behind and the dealer put out the {K-Clubs} on the river. Frazer bet 5,500 and got a rather quick call. The hijack could just as fast muck his hand as Frazer showed {K-Spades}{J-Spades}.

Robinson Can't Fade Flush

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

With 7,000 already in preflop Charles Nelson Robinson and his opponent took to the flop. That flop was {8-Spades}{a-Spades}{8-Clubs}. Robinson's opponent checked and Robinson bet out 4,000. His opponent called and they saw the {9-Diamonds} on the turn. Robinson bet again when his opponent checked. This time to 7,500. Robinson's opponent pushed all in and Robinson called.

Robinson held {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts} for top pair and his opponent held {k-Spades}{j-Spades} for the nut-flush draw. Robinson couldn't fade the spades as the {6-Spades} came on the river and gave the winning hand to Robinson's opponent's flush. Robinson is down to 127,000.

D'Angelo Gone

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Ryan D'Angelo was very short and had just 5,400 left. He shoved under-the-gun and only the big blind looked him up. The big blind had called blind and turned over {Q-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}. D'Angelo was in bad shape since he tabled the dominated {J-Diamonds}{5-Spades} himself. The board ({A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} | {9-Clubs} | {6-Spades}) brought no help at all, and D'Angelo's was off to collect his first cash of the summer.

Peters Doubles

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

On a flop of {10-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} we saw David Peters call a 12,000 bet in position. The turn brought the {A-Clubs} and Peters neighbor shoved all in. Peters made a quick and (by the looks of it) easy call with {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}. He was up against {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} so all he needed to fade was the {9-Spades}. The {4-Spades} was of no harm and Peters doubled up. If we're counting correctly, he now has well over 110,000.

Fourth Largest Stack is Gone

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Kevin Zhang came into today as the fourth largest stack in the room. Zhang was expecting to make a deep run. Somehow amidst these two levels Zhang lost his way and found himself eliminated from the tournament. It was one of the fastest exits for one of the chip leaders we have seen in a long, long time.

Kings of Shelton

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Michael Shelton started the hand on the button. He was already facing a raise and an all in of 13,400 chips. Shelton held {k-Spades}{k-Clubs} and just called the all in. The initial raiser folded. Shelton's opponent held {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and he was dominated against Shelton's kings. The board ran out {6-Clubs}{q-Spades}{a-Hearts}{8-Spades}{a-Clubs}.

Shelton's kings took down the pot and busted his opponent. Shelton is up to 61,000 in chips.

Dempsey Loses a Race

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Before the action was on Dempsey, a player had shoved all in for 12,800. Dempsey, from the cutoff, also announced all in and all other players folded. Dempsey tabled {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and was up against {A-Diamonds}{9-Spades}. An ace flopped and Dempsey didn't improve: {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{J-Spades} | {2-Diamonds} | {7-Spades}. Dempsey has to continue with about 26,500.

Joe Cada is already having one heck of a series. He recently finished 4th in the $1500 six-max event earlier this series. He is try to make another deep run here.

We caught him getting looked up by an opponent preflop when Cada pushed all in. The two flipped up their cards and Cada saw that it was a race.

Cada: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}

The flop came {k-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{6-Hearts}. The turn kept Cada in the lead with the {6-Clubs}. The river made it official with the {8-Spades}. Cada eliminated his opponent and he is in prime position to make it very deep as he is amoung the chip leaders as we continue the beginning of this day 2 restart.
