Michael Phelps Eliminated By David Diaz

Level 10 : 400/800, 100 ante

With a raise and a call before him, David Diaz three-bet to about 6,000 in the small blind. Michael Phelps, in the big blind, four-bet shoved for about 12,000. Action folded back to Diaz who called.

Phelps: {A-}{Q-}
Diaz: {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}

The flop fell {J-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{6-Hearts}, giving Diaz the lead with a pair of sixes. The {A-Clubs} turn fell to give Phelps a few additional outs to survive, but the {5-Diamonds} river was not one of them, ending his run.

Hellmuth Wins Lots off Benger

Level 10 : 400/800, 100 ante

Griffin Benger opened under-the-gun to 1,700 and got three callers. Hellmuth in the hijack was one of them and would turn out to be the most trouble. Benger continuation-betted 3,300 on {2-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{10-Spades} and Hellmuth immediately bumped it up to 7,000. Both the small blind and big blind folded and Benger made the call.

Benger checked to Hellmuth on the {K-Diamonds} turn after which we got the first small speech. "I don't think I can bluff you, so I'll check." {Q-Hearts} on the river and Benger put 9,600 in the middle. Hellmuth gave it some thoughts and than said "I'll just call."

Benger had to show the {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts} for the missed open-ended straight draw. Hellmuth turned over his {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and grabbed the chips in the pot. Hellmuth is having a good day so far and is now up to, what it looks like, 90,000.

Hellmuth Hits His Set, Gets No Reward

Level 10 : 400/800, 100 ante

We just started the 400/800 level and Hellmuth raised to 2,500 under-the-gun. He got one caller, the player under-the-gun plus one wanted to see a flop and got what he wanted: {4-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}. Both players checked after which the {6-Diamonds} fell on the turn. Hellmuth bet 3,000 and got a smooth call from his opponent. The river was the {Q-Spades} and Hellmuth cut out 11,000 and placed those chips in the middle of the table. His opponent almost immediately folded after which Hellmuth showed his {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} as he raked in the chips.

Jared Talarico Eliminated By Brendon Rubie

Level 10 : 400/800, 100 ante

With the board reading {A-}{8-}{3-}{4-}, Jared Talarico gets his stack of about 15,000 into the middle with {K-}{K-} against Brendon Rubie's {A-}{Q-}. The river {3-} is no help to Talarico, giving the pot to Rubie.

Sands Arrests Another One

Level 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

On a {2-Spades}{K-Spades}{J-Clubs} | {J-Hearts} board we just saw the player in the small blind push allin for about 16,000 in chips. David Sands, in the cutoff, asked for a count and made the call after a minute or what of thinking. "I'm on a draw" announced the small blind as he turned over his {A-Spades}{6-Spades}. Sands showed his top pair with {K-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and saw that hand hold up with the {Q-Diamonds} on the river.

Greenstein Busts Little

Level 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

Barry Greenstein had 5,000 in front of him, acting from the small blind on a {J-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{K-Spades} | {7-Diamonds} board. Jonathan Little, in the cutoff, shoved allin for a little more than double that. Greenstein didn't had to think for to long before committing his chips with {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades}. Little had {K-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for top pair and a flushdraw but the {Q-Clubs} on the river was a brick for his hand. Greenstein also won a small pot the next hand and now plays around 75,000.

AE Jones KO's Two

Level 9 : 300/600, 75 ante
Aaron Jones (Day 1)
Aaron Jones (Day 1)

When we reached the table, Leo Wolpert and Benjamin Palmer were all in and at risk against Aaron Jones. Jones had both players crushed.

Wolpert: {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}
Palmer: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}
Jones: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

Jones' hand held as the board came {a-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{7-Spades}{q-Clubs}{6-Spades}, and both Wolpert and Palmer hit the rail.

"That felt nice," someone at the table told Jones.

"Yeah," he said, smiling. "It did."

Selbst Versus Phelps

Level 9 : 300/600, 75 ante
Michael Phelps
Michael Phelps

Vanessa Selbst opened under-the-gun to 1,300 and got just one caller: Michael Phelps in the big blind. Phelps check-called 1,200 on {J-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} flop and 3,400 on the {A-Spades} turn. The river was the {4-Spades} and with just 10,700 behind, Phelps checked for the third time. Selbst gave it some thoughts, and then decided to put Phelps all in by placing a big pile of 1,000 chips in the middle of the table. Phelps didn't want to do it and quietly folded his hand.
