Welcome to PokerNews' Day 3 coverage of Event #2: 5,000 No-Limit Hold'em (Eight Handed). The starting field of 481 players is down just 28 hopefuls, each looking to capture the coveted World Series of Poker gold bracelet, as well as the $553,906 first-place prize.

On top of the chip counts entering Day 3 is Rafal Michalowski with 632,000. He is followed by Markus Gonsalves (502,000), Trevor Pope (465,000), Ismael Bojang (463,000), David Vamplew (452,000), and Tom Marchese (446,000). Many of poker's finest still remain in the hunt. Among them are Joe Serock (372,000), Darryll Fish (354,000), two-time bracelet winner Brian Rast (270,000), bracelet-winner Dan Kelly (224,000), and David "Doc" Sands (172,000).

The plan for the day is to play until the final table of eight is reached. Play is set to resume at 2pm local time, about half an 15 minutes from now, so be sure to keep it here throughout the day as the quest to crown the second WSOP gold bracelet winner resumes!
