Duhamel Bests Richey

Level 17

Jonathan Duhamel raised from the cutoff only to have Brett Richey make it three bets from the button. Action folded back to the 2010 WSOP Main Event champion who called the three-bet.

The two took a flop of {3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and Duhamel check-called a bet from Richey. The turn was the {9-Diamonds} and Duhamel checked a second time. Richey fired off another bet and Duhamel stuck around. The board finished off with the {Q-Spades} and Duhamel check-called one final bet.

Richey showed {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{2-Hearts} for aces and treys but was bested by Duhamel's {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} for flopped trips. Duhamel dragged in the pot and now has about 126,000. Richey has been crippled to about 22,000 in chips.

Ivey Chopped Up and Eliminated By Bloch and Rabtsov

Level 17
Phil Ivey - Eliminated
Phil Ivey - Eliminated

The three short stacks at table 359 just went to battle and Phil Ivey was the one left with no chips. Rabtsov was all in preflop and Ivey's remaining few thousand went in after the {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{4-Spades} flop.

Bloch: {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{6-Spades}{2-Hearts}
Rabtsov: {Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}
Ivey: {A-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades}{J-Hearts}

Despite flopping two pair and the nut-flush draw, Ivey trailed Bloch's top set and Rabtsov's nut low draw. The {8-Diamonds} turn and {8-Hearts} river secured the high for Bloch with aces full, while Rabtsov made the nut low.

Bloch Makes Correct Call For Half

Level 17
Andy Bloch Takes the High
Andy Bloch Takes the High

Picking up with the action on the flop, we found Todd Barlow, Andy Bloch, and Christopher George looking down at a board of {6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}. Barlow and Bloch checked over to George who fired out a bet. Both players called to see fourth street.

The dealer rapped the table and flipped over the {6-Diamonds}. Three checks prompted the final card, the {3-Hearts}, to strike the felt. Barlow checked and Bloch checked behind. George cut out one final bet and Barlow quickly called.

Bloch went into the tank for quite some time before reaching for a stack of chips and making the over-call.

George showed {A-Spades}{J-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{2-Hearts} for the nut low and Barlow fanned {A-Diamonds}{x-}{7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} for the same nut low. Bloch showed {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}.

"Ace-queen for the high," the dealer stated at first.

"Pair of fives," someone else chimed in.

Bloch's pair of fives was good for the high while George and Barlow each received one quarter of the low.

"That's a world class over-call right there," stated Mike Matusow to Bloch from across the table. "World class."

"Nah, it'd be world class if I just had ace-queen," replied Bloch who stood up and walked over to continue talking with Matusow.

Rabtsov Falls to Barlow; Richey Also Out

Level 17

We found Kirill Rabtsov all in for his tournament life on a flop of {5-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{A-Hearts} against Todd Barlow and Mike Matusow. The two were heads up for a side pot going to the turn which was the {6-Diamonds}. Matusow checked and Barlow led out with a bet. Matusow went into the tank for a moment before finally deciding to release his cards, prompting the other two to turn their hands on their backs.

Rabtsov: {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Barlow: {A-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Clubs}

The dealer finished off the board with the {Q-Hearts} and Barlow was able to scoop with his heart flush for the high and his sixty-five low. Rabtsov was sent to the rail and Barlow now has about 90,000 in chips.

"I'd have made a royal," lamented Matusow who sat staring at the river card after the hand.

On an adjacent table, Brett Richey was eliminated from play in unknown action.

Sokoloff All in, Two-Outed, and Quartered

Level 17

Dan Kelly raised from the cutoff and was called by Shawn Buchanan in the small blind and Paul Sokoloff in the big blind.

The flop fell {Q-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts} and Buchanan checked. Sokoloff bet, Kelly raised and Buchanan called. Sokoloff raised all in for just a little bit more and both Kelly and Buchanan called. The {3-Clubs} turn fell and Buchanan bet, resulting in a fold from Kelly.

Sokoloff: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{2-Clubs}
Buchanan: {7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts}

Sokoloff had a wheel and a club draw to scoop, but the {A-Diamonds} river gave Buchanan a wheel as well to get half the low in addition to his seven-high straight.

James Dempsey Bubbles For Second Straight Year

Level 17
James Dempsey
James Dempsey

For the second straight year, James Dempsey has bubbled this tournament.

He limped in under the gun and Viacheslav Zhukov raised from UTG+2. Maria Ho called from the small blind, Robert Mizrachi called from the big blind, and Dempsey called all in for his remaining 1,000 after his original call.

The {K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop was checked around and when the {J-Hearts} turn fell, Ho checked to Mizrachi who bet. Zhukov folded, Ho called, and the {5-Spades} river completed the board. Ho check-folded to Mizrachi's bet this time and Mizrachi tabled {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for kings full.

Dempsey couldn't beat it and for the second straight year is the bubble boy of this event.
