Dempsey's Set Chops Three Ways

Level 3 : 50/100, 0 ante

Under the gun, James Dempsey raised to 300. He was only called by the players in the blinds.

On the {A-Spades}{J-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} flop, action was checked around. On the {K-Clubs} turn, action was checked around again.

The {10-Hearts} on the river put the nuts on the board, but even so, the player in the small blind moved all in. The player in the big blind and Dempsey both called and the cards were turned on their backs.

"I know you got the straight boys, but I got the set," Dempsey said.

Dempsey: {A-}{A-}
Big Blind: {10-Clubs}{5-Clubs}
Small Blind: {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}

The players chopped the pot, and after the hand Dempsey was sitting on 2,000 chips.

Selbst, Jaka, and Tran All Bust

Level 3 : 50/100, 0 ante

We caught Vanessa Selbst on the short stack when she had moved all in from the small blind for 875 after a raise to 350 and several calls. The player in the big blind then moved all in over the top with a covering stack and all the other players folded.

Selbst: {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}
Big Blind: {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}

The flop, turn, and river brought no help to Selbst and she was eliminated.

Also no longer found in the field were JC Tran as well as Faraz Jaka.

The Toilet Flushed With Chips

Level 3 : 50/100, 0 ante

Faraz "The Toilet" Jaka just got a mini double courtesy of the player in the big blind. Jaka moved all in from the cutoff for 525 and after everyone else folded the player in the big blind called.

Jaka: {A-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}
Big Blind: {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

The flop rolled out {2-Clubs}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs}{6-Spades}{2-Spades} and Jaka was able to double up to 1125 in chips.

Vandersmissen's Chips are Missin'.

Level 3 : 50/100, 0 ante

A few more players have shown up, including Kevin Vandersmissen who won the Irish Open last year.

In a recent hand Vandersmissen lost a large chunk of his stack after calling a player's preflop all in. Vandersmissen was holding {A-Spades}{J-Clubs} while his opponent held {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}. The board ran out {10-}{3-}{3-}{8-}{9-} and Vandersmissen was forced to ship over a portion of his chips. After the hand he dropped to just about 1,400 in chips.

Also joining the field with Vandersmissen are Kenny Tran and Paul Volpe, both on their second bullet. And it appears that we have also lost Chris Tryba in the fray.

The Bustos Bounce Back

Level 3 : 50/100, 0 ante

Vanessa Selbst recently busted Event #2: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em (Eight Handed), but she's back on track for another bracelet by immediately hopping into this event. She's seated at a table with Daniel Negreanu, who's also on his second bullet of the day. We also spotted Chad Brown at a nearby table.

The Shark Can't Beat Quads

Level 3 : 50/100, 0 ante

We didn't catch the hand but we talked to some players at Humberto Brenes' table after seeing him missing. According to some of the players, "The Shark" got all his money in on the turn with {K-}{K-} against {J-}{J-}. Unfortunately for Brenes, the other player had already flopped quad jacks.

"He slow rolled him too," some of the players at the table explained.

All we know for sure is that Brenes is gone after busting his second bullet.
