On this episode of The Straddle, we have a very special cameo and more behind the scenes from the 2013 World Series of Poker.
In one of the last hands before break, Steve Diano, Adam Szalay and Stuart Rutter all made it to seventh street in a large pot. Szalay, who had taken the lead on an earlier street and bet a jack-high board against Rutter's queen-high and Diano's ![]()

, checked the end. Diano pondered briefly, counting his chips, before firing out a bet, leaving himself less than a big bet remaining. Rutter folded without much thought and Szalay went into the tank.
"You have a wheel?" he asked Diano.
"I'll show you," Diano offered.
Szalay agonized over the decision for a few minutes, rubbing his head and apologizing to his tablemates. "You'll show if I fold?" he finally asked.
"I already said I would show," Diano responded. Szalay folded.
"Aces full," Diano said, turning over ![]()

. "Now that's how you play Razz."
Meanwhile, Max Pescatori busted out at one of the other tables in a hand we didn't catch. He finished 22nd.

Players are now on their last 20-minute break of the night.
Unfortunately we missed the hand while compiling the three-table seat drawn, but we can confirm that Nicholas Verkaik was eliminated from the tournament in 23rd place. He will earn $5,752 for his performance.

Fold
A short-stacked Archie Karas, who once parlayed a borrowed stake of $10,000 into $17 million as described in a 1994 article in Cigar Aficionado, completed with his last 1,400 and Brent Keller raised to 3,200. Thomas Butzhammer came along and there was side action headed to fourth.
Butzhammer ended up calling a bet from Keller but then folded to one on fifth. Keller turned over an 8-7-6-A low while Karas was in bad shape with 4-4-Q-2. A
on fifth saw Keller improve, and a
for Karas left him drawing dead. Keller was pushed the pot while Karas' hope of a comeback came to an end.
Meanwhile both Mike Wattel and Billy Baxter were eliminated from the tournament a short time later. The former was felled in 25th place while the latter in 24th before the three-table redraw could occur.
