Ace in the Hole for Mueller

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

Before the break, Greg Mueller was involved in a hand against Eric Froehlich. On a flop of {4-Spades}{2-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}, Mueller checked, Froehlich bet, and Mueller called. When the {8-Clubs} fell on the turn, Mueller again checked, but this time raised after Froehlich bet. Froehlich called, and the river brought the {2-Diamonds}. Both players checked, and Mueller tabled {a-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}, which did not connect with the board. Froehlich mucked his cards, and Mueller's ace-high was good enough to win.

Qutami Sends Santoro Back to Brazil

Level 6 : 400/800, 0 ante

A short-stacked Mothel Santoro, who hails from Brazil, raised to 800 from the under-the-gun position only to have Danny Qutami three-bet to 1,200. Action folded back around to Santoro, he made the call, and the flop came down {a-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}, which both players checked.

When the dealer burned and turned the {3-Hearts}, Santoro bet and then called when Qutami raised to 1,600. Santoro then checked the {8-Spades} river and Qutami bet 800. Santoro, who only had 1,400, raised and Qutami snap-called with the {7-Spades}{7-Clubs} for a flopped set. Santoro showed the {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for a pair of aces and quickly exited the tournament area.

Chip Counts Update

Level 6 : 400/800, 0 ante

As we approach the last break of the night, here are some chip counts:

Mizzi on the Rebound

Level 6 : 400/800, 0 ante

Action folded to Sorel Mizzi in the hijack and he put in a raise. The player in the cutoff then three-bet to 1,200, the button and blinds all folded, and Mizzi made the call to see a flop of {k-Clubs}{7-Spades}{3-Clubs}. Mizzi check-called a bet and then both players checked the {4-Hearts} turn. When the {6-Spades} completed the board on the river, Mizzi led out and the cutoff snap-folded.

It wasn't much of a hand but it gave us a good excuse to update you on his chip stack.

Bloch Takes One from Akkari

Level 6 : 400/800, 0 ante

Andre Akkari raised from late position, and Andy Bloch three-bet from the small blind. Akkari called, and the players saw the flop heads-up. After the dealer spread {k-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}, Bloch bet out, and Akkari called. That action repeated itself on both the {3-Spades} turn and the {a-Spades} river. Bloch then tabled {a-Diamonds}{10-Spades} for a pair of aces, and Akkari mucked his cards.

Despite the hit, Akkari still sits with 36,000, and Bloch is now up to 14,000.

One for Lisandro; Pescatori Gone

Level 6 : 400/800, 0 ante

A middle-position player opened for 800 only to have Jeff Lisandro three-bet to 1,200 from the hijack. The rest of the players folded, the middle-position player called and it was heads-up action to the {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{9-Spades} flop. The middle-position player proceeded to check-call a bet and did the same on the {4-Diamonds} turn.

Lisandro then bet another 800 when his opponent checked the {A-Spades} river and it was enough to get the job done as the middle-position player sent his cards to the muck.
