Daniel Hits One Out of the Park

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

In one of the last hand's before break, Daniel Park claimed an enormous pot at the expense of Jonathan Jaffe, after both players hit gin on the river.

After a minimal amount went into the pot preflop, the first three board cards came {k-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{2-Clubs}. Jaffe fired a bet of 20,000 into the pot, and Park came along to see the {j-Hearts} arrive on the turn. Both players tapped the table on fourth street, and when the {10-Hearts} completed the board on the river, the fireworks began.

A series of bets and raises found both players putting their stacks in the middle, and when the cards were revealed, it was a stunning sight to behold.

Showdown:

Park: {7-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Jaffe: {A-Hearts}{2-Hearts}

Both players made their flushes on the river, with Jaffe holding the ace-high variety, and Park making the stone cold nuts with a straight flush. Jaffe was stunned to see the bad news, but he took the beat like an experienced pro, while Park simply smiled and organized his newly replenished stack.

Cardyn's Trap Fails to Catch Chidwick

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Nicolas Cardyn checked to Stephen Chidwick on a {3-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop and then called when Chidwick bet 6,500. The {4-Clubs} landed on the turn and this time when Cardyn checked Chidwick checked behind. Cardyn checked for a third time when the {A-Diamonds} appeared on the river. Chidwick checked behind.

Cardyn opened the {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for the nut flush, obviously hoping Chidwick would take a stab at the pot on the river. The best laid plans of mice and men.....

Givotovsky Grinds to a Halt

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Alex Givotovsky's tournament is over thanks to the hot-running John Juanda.

Juanda raised preflop and then called when Givotovsky made a move and three-bet all in with what turned out to be {Q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. Juanda's hand was {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds} and although neither player improved on the {2-Hearts}{10-Spades}{3-Clubs}{5-Spades}{3-Hearts} board, Juanda won the pot courtesy of his ace-kicker.

The buzz inside the walls of the Rio extends beyond just the tournaments on the 2013 World Series of Poker schedule. Online poker in Nevada is a very, very hot topic right now, and WSOP.com is making a lot of noise.

While the site has yet to launch, you can head to the Lambada Room of the Rio or look for one of the beautiful and friendly WSOP.com ladies walking the hallways to sign up for a free, personal WSOP.com online poker account. This is a great way to get a jump on the site's registration, and plenty of people have already taken this opportunity.

What's more is that the WSOP will be hosting daily raffles for everyone that has taken the time to register for WSOP.com at the Rio. What can you win? Plenty of fantastic prizes including 36 WSOP seats!

Players 21 years of age and older who sign up for a WSOP.com account will automatically be entered into the “36-Seat Giveaway” where a randomly-selected winner will win a seat into the next day’s first WSOP gold bracelet event. One of the events eligible in this promotion is the $111,111 One Drop High Roller No-Limit Hold’em tournament that is expected to feature a $10,000,000 prize pool and allow you to play poker with the biggest names in the game. In addition to the 36-Seat Giveaway, a “Hot Seat” promotion will allow any player who signs up for a WSOP.com online account and wears their WSOP.com patch on their chest at the table while playing an event to be randomly selected to receive 500 bonus dollars deposited directly into their WSOP.com online account once the site has received all regulatory approvals and launches.

With 62 WSOP gold bracelet events and three winners promised for the Main Event, this promotion includes $32,000 worth of value to those participating.

Cruel River Cripples Pham

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
David Pham: Crippled by a cruel river
David Pham: Crippled by a cruel river

Wow! What a river card! David Pham may not agree, but Jamie Rosen certainly will.

We joined the action on the {a-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} where Rosen and Pham entered a raising war that resulted in Rosen being all in and at risk of elimination. Rosen showed {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} for tip aces, but was crushed by the {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs} of Pham who had turned a boat.

"Nice hand," said a deflated Rosen as he rose from his chair and started to gather his belongings.

However, he had to sit back down because the river was the {J-Clubs}, improving Rosen to a bigger full house and leaving Pham to hand over all but 46,000 of his stack. Ouch!
