Vaca-Rondon Out of Yellows

Level 8 : 200/400, 50 ante

A player limped from early position and Nicolas Vaca-Rondon raised it up to 1,050. The rest of the table folded and action went back onto the limper. He called and they saw a flop.

The flop came {9-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{6-Hearts}. The limper checked and Vaca-Rondon bet out quickly. He made a bet of 1,250. His opponent made the call. The turn came the {9-Hearts}. This time Vaca-Rondon's opponent bet out 1,600. Rondon was not happy that he could not call and mucked. Vaca-Rondon used up all his yellow T1,000 chips in the hand and went down to 9,000 in greens, blacks, and purples.

Musumeci Eliminated

Level 8 : 200/400, 50 ante

Charlie Kassatly raised to 1,050 preflop, Amanda Musumeci called, and everyone else folded. The flop came {j-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}, and Musumeci checked. Kassatly continued for 2,050, and Musumeci called again. The turn was the {5-Diamonds}, and this time Kassatly announced, "All in." He had Musumeci covered, and she thought for a minute before calling and turning over {q-Spades}{j-Spades} for top pair. Kassatly, however, held {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds} for top pair with a higher kicker, and Musumeci would need help. The river was the {5-Hearts}, and Kassatly won the pot, busting Musumeci out of the tournament.

Schneider Left With Crumbs

Level 8 : 200/400, 50 ante

We did not catch the entire hand but we did see Tom Schneider sending most of his stack over to his opponent. His opponent had a set of fives on the river and that was good enough to get most of Schneider's stack. Schneider went down to a measly count of 2,500.

Sklansky Doubles With Kings

Level 8 : 200/400, 50 ante

David Sklansky was all in and at risk with {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}. His opponent had {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}. They took to the board to determine a winner.

The board ran out {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{8-Spades}{4-Spades}. That would award the double to Sklansky. He would chip up to over 11,000.

Octo-Niner Thriving

Level 8 : 200/400, 50 ante

Jake Balsiger came over to the Brasilia room with a fairly light bag of chips, but it looks like he has been doing plenty of work at his new table. We walked by his table recently, and saw that he has stacks on stacks on stacks. When we counted all up, it appeared that he had about 50,000, which this early on in the day is right up there with the chip leaders.

Kara Scott Doubles

Level 8 : 200/400, 50 ante

Facing a preflop raise to 800, Kara Scott three-bet to 2000. The initial raiser then pushed forward enough chips to put Scott all in, effectively a raise to 5,525. Scott thought for a moment, then called for all her chips. She turned over {a-Spades}{j-Spades}, and her opponent held {2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}. The board ran out {7-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{5-Spades}, giving Scott two pair and a double up.

Rubie Makes the Right Fold

Level 7 : 150/300, 25 ante

As he is prone to do, Brendon Rubie amassed quite the chip stack before the dinner break, as he had about 45,000. However, we just caught him losing a good sized pot, where he easily could have lost more had he not made the correct fold on the river.

We only caught up with the action in the middle of betting on the river of a board that showed {5-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{q-Spades}. There was about 10,000 in the middle, and Rubie had fired out 4,600. His lone opponent in the hand raised it up to 10,100, and Rubie was in the middle of tanking as we arrived. He thought for about a minute before sliding his cards to the dealer one at a time, and his opponent tapped the table, and showed {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs} for quads. Rubie jokingly said "they are good," as the pot was shipped to his opponent.
