Dornelesneto Wins Biggest Pot of Tournament With Ace High

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Wow. Wow. Wow.

We just saw what can only be described as a world class call by Joao Dornelesneto to give him the chip lead as we approach the final 100 players in this event. The table caught our attention when we saw at least 120,000 already in the middle on a board that showed {5-Spades}{3-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{8-Spades}{2-Hearts}. Dornelesneto's opponent moved all in for the rest of his 110,000, which put Dornelesneto and his stack of 72,700 to the test. Dornelesneto thought for quite some time, and eventually, he announced "I call."

His opponent said "Nice call. Queen high." Dornelesneto rolled over just {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} for ace high and maybe of the players at the table gasped in awe at the sight of his hand, before congratulating him on such a sick call. His opponent's cards had to be tabled, {q-Spades}{j-Spades}, and he too had nothing but praises for Dornelesneto , saying "good call man." After taking down that ginormous pot, Dornelesneto is our new chip leader, with 280,000!

Wheeler Takes Another Hit

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Action folded around to Aaron Jones on the button and he moved all in for 32,800. The small blind folded and then Jason Wheeler asked for a count before spiking in a call.

Wheeler: {6-}{6-}
Jones: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

It was a flip and Wheeler was looking to hold. When the flop fel {7-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and Jones paired his ace, the tables were turned on Wheeler and he was the one looking to hit. The {A-Clubs} turn gave Jones trips, but it didn't change the fact that Wheeler needed a six to eliminate his opponent. The dealer burned one more time and put out the {3-Hearts}. Wheeler missed and Jones doubled through.

Gates Makes a Huge Bluff

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

The player under-the-gun plus one opened to 4,200 and action folded quickly to Garry Gates in the cut off. Gates made it 10,500 to go and Griffin Benger quickly folded his button. Both blinds folded as well and action was back on the initial-raiser. He thought about it for a little bit, and then made the call.

The flop came {6-Spades}{8-Hearts}{2-Spades} and both players checked. The {2-Clubs} fell on the turn and the under-the-gun plus one player bet 8,900. Gates made the call and dealer Bruce put out the {A-Diamonds} on the river. The player who was the aggressor on the turn, now checked and the action was on Gates. He announced all in without much time for thinking. 31,700 total and that's about what his opponent had. Several minutes passed and the under-the-gun plus one player started talking. "Ace king?" he asked twice. Gates didn't say a thing and eventually his opponent folded.

Benger asked if Gates could show a bluff. It had the looks of it like Gates didn't want to show but, as Benger kept pressing him, he flipped over {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} right before sliding his cards in the muck. Gates now has a little over 75,000, while his opponent has to continue with just 34,000.

Wheeler Gone

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

We were just in time to write down all the cards that were face up. Wheeler had {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} while his opponent had {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}. The board was {4-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{K-Hearts} | {5-Diamonds} | {A-Hearts} and that meant the end of the tournament for Wheeler. When, and how the chips exactly ended up in the middle we don't know. We are sure however, that he's at the payout desk right now.

Ladouceur Ceck Folds

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

We picked up the action on a {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{K-Hearts} flop and saw Ladouceur checking from the big blind. His opponent bet out 7,000 and Ladouceur made the call. Both players checked when another queen popped up on the turn: {Q-Spades}. The river was the {J-Diamonds} and Ladouceur check-folded to a 10,000 bet. The Canadian continues his tournament with a little under 50,000.

Cunningham Doubles

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Allen Cunningham open shoved from the hijack position for 38,000 total. He found a challenger in the big blind who made the call. Cunningham wasn't in the worst shape; his {7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} was live against the big blinds {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}. Cunningham flopped a seven and the aces and kings stayed in the deck securing him the double up: {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{Q-Spades} | {2-Diamonds} | {4-Spades}.

Terry Busts One

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

A lady open shoved for 2,700 from early position, and Todd Terry looked her up by calling right next to her. A couple of players behind him showed interest, but all eventually folded. Terry showed {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} and the lady had {2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}. {5-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{9-Hearts} | {7-Clubs} | {4-Clubs} on the table and that got Terry over the 100,000 mark.
