Hellmuth Gone

Level 6 : 250/500, 125 ante
Phil Hellmuth - Eliminated
Phil Hellmuth - Eliminated

After his last encounter with Paul Volpe, it seems that Phil Hellmuth entered a downward spiral. We arrived at the table to find him open to 1,300 before the draw. Tobias Wenker raised to 3,200 from the next seat over and it folded back to Hellmuth who shot the rest of his stack in the middle for less.

Hellmuth announced that he was drawing one and Wenker stood pat, rolling over his hand.

Wenker: {10-}{9-}{7-}{5-}{4-}
Hellmuth: {8-}{7-}{3-}{2-}

Hellmuth was drawing live with his final card in front of him.

"I have a feeling it's going to be paint. It feels like paint. I've had a wheel draw four times today," said Hellmuth very quickly. It was indeed paint as he picked up the {J-Diamonds}, giving him the second best hand. Hellmuth stormed out of the tournament area and disappeared quickly from sight. Wenker dragged in the pot, satisfied with having slain a world champion.

Volpe Bests Two World Champions

Johnny Chan opened with an early position raise to 1,600 and Paul Volpe called from the cutoff. Phil Hellmuth peeked at his cards from the small blind and moved out a three-bet to 7,000. Chan took a moment and looked at his cards once more before moving out a call. Volpe decided to call behind.

Hellmuth checked before the draw was even complete and Chan checked as well. Volpe knocked the table back and the dealer prompted the players to table their hands.

"Queen," announced Hellmuth.

"No good," shot back Volpe, showing {10-}{9-}{6-}{5-}{2-}.

Chan quietly looked at Volpe's hand and mucked his own. Hellmuth threw his hand away but nothing about the exchange that occurred afterward was quiet.

"He calls seven-thousand with a nine. It's just insane," Hellmuth muttered to himself. "If I get some chips I have a shot to win. You on the other hand..." he trailed off.

Volpe quietly replied with something that we couldn't hear, but this was when Chan chimed in.

"Did he say he had a queen?" asked Chan.

Volpe confirmed that was what Hellmuth said.

"I had him beat anyway!" said Chan.

Hellmuth continued to speak lowly even as the next hand begun. The PokerBrat now has about 19,000 in chips while Volpe is thriving at 42,000. Chan is just around starting stack with 31,000.

Chips For Cheong

Level 6 : 250/500, 125 ante

Phil Laak opened the action by raising to 1,050 from under the gun. Joseph Cheong called from the next seat over and the two were joined to the draw by Richard Ashby from the small blind and the player in the big blind.

Ashby drew one card, the big blind took two, and both Laak and Cheong followed Ashby's lead by drawing one. There were three checks around the table to Cheong who cut out 2,750. Ashby called the bet and the other two folded.

"Nine," said Cheong, fanning {9-}{8-}{5-}{4-}{3-}.

Ashby nodded his head and mucked his hand as the pot was pushed to Cheong. Cheong now sits just around starting stack with 29,000 in chips.
