Baker's Ten Busts Rast

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

Omaha-8

David "Bakes" Baker and Brian Rast were both quite short when they got in a raising war preflop in Omaha-8. Rast ended up being all in, with Baker barely having him covered.

Rast: {a-Spades}{2-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Baker: {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{7-Spades}

Rast was in great shape, as Baker would need a lot of help to take the hand outright, and sure enough, he got just that when the flop came {3-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}. The {j-Hearts} meant there would be no low, and Rast's only hope was to catch a king or a queen. The river brought the {2-Hearts} though, and Rast made his exit, saying "well I guess I'll just have to win the Millionaire Maker" as he left. Meanwhile, Bakes is still short, sitting on just 8,200.

Smith Loses On Seventh Street

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

Stud- 8

Smith: {x-}{x-} / {10-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} / {x-}
Opponent: {x-}{x-} / {3-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{10-Spades}{9-Hearts} / {x-}

We caught up with the action on fourth street in a heads up pot between Justin "Boosted J" Smith and another opponent. Smith's opponent check called bets on fourth, fifth, and sixth street. On seventh, Smith's opponent checked one more time, and this time, Smith knuckled as well. His opponent revealed {6-Spades}{2-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} in the hole for a six high straight and low that he made at the end, and Smith mucked. Despite that hit, Smith is doing fine for himself with 31,300.

Glatz Gets A Ton Of Chips

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

Omaha-8

We caught up with the action in a multi-way pot on the flop, which read {6-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{k-Spades}. Matt Woodward, Matt Glantz, and two other players were involved in the hand, and Woodward bet right out in the small blind. The first opponent called, then the cutoff made it two bets. Glantz called from the button, and Woodward and the other player called. The {4-Diamonds} hit the turn, and it was checked to Glantz, who fired out a bet. Everyone called, including one of the players who was all in, and the river was the {9-Clubs}. Glantz fired again, and everyone else folded, leaving Glantz heads up with the all in player.

Glantz tabled {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Spades} for fours full, and his opponent mucked. After taking down that hefty pot, Glantz is up to 45,500.

Omaha-8

Team PokerStars pro George Danzer finished runner-up in this event last year, and he made Day 2 this year with an average stack. However, he has just won a pot in O-8 to get his stack up close to 30,000.

We saw that Danzer and his opponent had two bets in front of them going to the flop, which came down {3-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{q-Spades}. Danzer check raised his opponent, and he was called. Danzer checked again when the {q-Diamonds} hit the turn, and Danzer's opponent fired out again. Danzer just called this time, and both players checked when the {5-Diamonds} hit the river. Danzer showed {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{7-Spades}{j-Clubs} for two pair, and his opponent could only muster up the {10-Clubs} for a lesser two pair, giving the pot to the German pro.

After that hand, Danzer is now up to 27,000.
