Cassidy Bests Williamson

Level 12

Omaha-8

Robert Williamson III limped from under the gun and it folded around to Joe Cassidy who raised from the small blind. Steven Wolansky called out of the big blind and the three players saw a flop of {5-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{K-Spades}. Cassidy and Wolansky checked over to Williamson who fired out a bet. Cassidy called while Wolansky threw away his hand.

The {6-Diamonds} hit the turn and Cassidy check-called once again. Fifth street brought the {9-Hearts} and both players tapped the table. Cassidy showed {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and his pocket aces held as the best hand, allowing him to drag in the pot. He's now sitting around 29,000 while Williamson has just about 6,500 in front of him.

George Knocks Out Two, New Leader

Level 12
Konstantin Bucherl
Konstantin Bucherl

Stud

Christopher George has catapulted into the chip lead here at the start of Level 12, having earned a big boost to his stack after scoring a double-knockout in a stud hand.

The hand saw Konstantin Bucherl all in by third street, then another player all in by sixth. With the second all-in, everyone's cards were revealed:

Bucherl: {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} / {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} — sixes, flush draw
second all-in player: {4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} / {A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{10-Spades} — flush draw
George: {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds} / {3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{4-Spades}{K-Hearts} — full house

George's hand made the others' draws inconsequential, so when Bucherl filled his flush it didn't help him as he and the other player hit the rail. Meanwhile George is now up over 140,000, the biggest stack in the room at present.

Dang Scoops Smith

Level 12

Omaha-8

Howard Smith and Trai Dang came into this second day of play at the top of the counts, although both have slid a bit during the first three-and-a-half levels of play. The pair were seated together at the same table today and have played several hands against one another, including an Omaha-8 hand just now.

The pair had reached the river with Dang having bet or raised and Smith contemplating a call. The board showed {3-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{J-Clubs}, and after a lengthy think Smith set out the calling chips.

Dang immediately tabled {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{2-Spades}. "Good hand," said Smith, as he looked over Dang's cards. "Ace-deuce," he said, referring to Dang's 7-4-3-2-A low. "And you've got the jack," he added, referring to Dang's high hand of trip jacks.

Turn and River Delight Deluca

Level 12
Joseph Deluca
Joseph Deluca

Pot-Limit Omaha

Some big-bet poker to report, as we've just seen a couple of big pot-limit Omaha hands over at Table 407.

The first hand saw a three-way all-in situation develop involving Joseph Deluca, Steve Zolotow, and Sergii Baranov. The board showed {6-Spades}{3-Clubs}{5-Hearts}, and the players' cards revealed the following:

Deluca: {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} — sixes and fives
Zolotov: {A-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{2-Clubs} — open-ended straight draw
Baranov: {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Spades} — open-ended straight draw, kings

The turn brought the {J-Diamonds} and the river the {6-Hearts}, delivering a backdoor full house to Deluca to win him the big pot and push his stack up close to 100,000. Meanwhile, Zolotov was knocked out and Baranov cut down to less than 10,000.

Baranov was then all in shortly thereafter with {9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{8-Spades}{7-Spades} versus Scotty Nguyen's {K-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{10-Spades}{6-Spades}. The board came {8-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}, giving Baranov quads and continued life in the tournament.

Sternheimer Takes Some From Fitoussi

Level 12

No-Limit Hold'em

Action folded around to Philip Sternheimer's button and he popped it up to 1,500. The small blind folded and action was on Bruno Fitoussi in the big blind. Fitoussi cut out a three-bet to 3,600 and Sternheimer thought for a moment before calling.

The flop came {A-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} and Fitoussi continued out for 4,125. Sternheimer flat called to see the {10-Clubs} hit the turn. Both players rapped the table and the {7-Clubs} fell on the river. They both checked once more and Fitoussi showed {10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} for a turned pair of tens. He was bested, however, by Sternheimer's {q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} for a pair of jacks. Sternheimer dragged in the pot and now has about 42,000 in chips.

Bruno Makes Wheel, Rolling Again

Level 12
Bruno Fitoussi
Bruno Fitoussi

Stud-8

After losing a few to Philip Sternheimer, Bruno Fitoussi got some back soon after from Scott Blackman in a stud-8 hand.

Playing with his left hand only while getting a massage on his right, Fitoussi fired a bet on seventh street with his four upcards showing {5-Hearts}{7-Spades}{3-Clubs}{A-Clubs}, and Blackman called with {J-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{3-Hearts} showing.

Fitoussi then turned over his other cards — {4-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} for a wheel — and Blackman mucked. "Must be nice!" said Sternheimer as Fitoussi collected the chips.

He's still stacking them slowly with his one free hand, but he appears to be near the 150,000-chip mark and the probable leader as they approach the end of Level 12.
