Baker Makes A Tough Call

Level 5 : 100/200, 0 ante
Mandy Baker
Mandy Baker

We came to the table and saw Amanda Baker studying the {9-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{k-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} board. The pot was roughly 2,300 and she was facing a 1,200 bet from her opponent and was in the tank when we got there. A solid minute later Baker made the call and was happy to see her {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds} held up against her opponent's {a-}{q-}.

With nine WSOP cashes including an 11th (2011) and 76th (2012) in the event, Baker has the experience and poker prowess to make a deep run. Keep it here to find out how far she goes.

Liu Gives a Little

Level 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

On a flop of {10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{4-Clubs} J.J. Liu got a short stack all in. Liu had {a-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} but her opponent held {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}. Liu needed help to get the knockout.

The turn came the {2-Spades} and the river came the {q-Hearts}. Liu had to give a little to her opponent as she sits with 4,000 after the hand.

Kade Busts One

Level 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

Vanessa Kade raised to 600 from late position, and a short-stacked player three-bet all in for 1,100. Kade called and showed {a-Spades}{j-Spades}. Her all-in opponent held {a-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}, and would need help. The board did not connect with either player's hand, coming {8-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{k-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}. Kade took the pot, and her opponent was eliminated.

Segall Doubles

Level 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

A short-stacked Emily Segall moved all in preflop and received one call. She showed {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}, and her opponent turned over {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}. The board ran out {6-Hearts}{4-Spades}{5-Clubs}{a-Spades}{6-Spades}, giving Segall top pair and a double-up.

With relatively short starting stacks, the rising blinds are starting to force more all-in confrontations. Over half the Brasilia room is now empty as players are being eliminated and tables are broken
