Tikhonov Pays it Off

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

Sergey Tikhonov bet 12,500 on a board of {8-Clubs}{10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. An opponent with position raised to 25,500, and Tikhonov called. The river was a {2-Spades}, and Tikhonov checked. His opponent bet 41,500.

"Straight?" Tikhonov asked. He got no response. After a couple of minutes, he called. His opponent didn't show a straight, but his {7-Spades}{7-Hearts} for a set was good for the pot.

"Blind Squirrel Finds a Nut"

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

Bryn Kenney raised it up to 13,500 in the hijack, and the big blind was the only caller. The flop came {5-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{6-Clubs}, and both players checked to see a {k-Clubs}. The big blind bet out 9,500, and Kenney called. The river was the {a-Clubs}, and the big blind kept betting, this time 17,500. Kenney again made the call.

"I got the ace on the river," the big blind said, tabling {a-Hearts}{4-Clubs}.

"Well done," Kenney said, shaking his head and mucking.

"File that under 'blind squirrel finds a nut,'" the player replied.

Wilson Gets a KO

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

Joe Wilson and Mike Linster each called an all in of about 45,000 from the button before the flop. Wilson moved all in on the {j-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} board.

"I can't believe you just shoved," Linster said in consternation. "I couldn't ask for a better flop."

He finally decided to fold, and Wilson tabled {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}. The short stack had {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}, and Linster said he had ace-queen as well. The turn and river were clean for Wilson, and he added to his stack.
