Peters Loses a Small One

Level 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

David Peters raised from the button pre-flop, and only the big blind called. Both players checked the flop of {5-Spades}{5-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. When the {a-Spades} fell on the turn, the big blind checked again, but this time Peters bet out 400. His opponent called, and then both players checked {9-Clubs} river. The big blind showed {9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} for a rivered full house, and Peters mucked.

Lubarsky and Gross Depart

Level 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

In a big three way allin we saw both Hal Lubarsky and Steve Gross leave the table. In a cutoff ({K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}) versus small blind (Gross - {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}) versus big blind (Lubarsky - {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}) situation everything went in preflop. Lubarsky had more than Gross but both had lesser chips than the cutoff who had the best hand as well.

The flop gave two players a set but the best hand preflop was still in the lead: {Q-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. The {8-Hearts} on the turn and {7-Diamonds} on the river brought help to no one and the cutoff busted two players in one hand.

Rast Doubles Up a Short Stack

Level 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

When we arrived at the table the decision was on Brian Rast. He already had 425 in front of him and someone behind him had pushed for 1,925 more. Rast gave it some thoughts before calling. "I'm just going to give you these" he said as he tabled {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}. He indeed was behind as his opponent showed {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}.

Rast wouldn't put a bad beat on his opponent as the board ran out {5-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Spades} | {10-Clubs} | {8-Spades}. Todd Witteles, also at the table, said he would have had flopped quads, would he have still been in the hand. Rast still has about 7,500 left which is the equivalent of about 38 big blinds.

Lawson Chipping Up

Level 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

The under-the-gun player limped pre-flop, and Ted Lawson raised to 600. Everyone folded to the limper, who called. The flop fell {Q-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{8-Spades}. Action checked to Lawson, who led out for 1,000. His opponent called, then checked again on the {9-Spades} turn. Lawson bet 3,500. His opponent thought for about a minute before folding, and Lawson took the pot.

Adams Bluff Failed (Still a Big Stack)

Level 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

Timothy Adams opened the button to 400 and got a call from the player in the big blind. Both players checken on {10-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} and the dealer burned and turned the {9-Spades}. The big blind now bet out 500 and Adams made the call. The river was the {2-Hearts} and the big blind checked. Adams bet out 900 but that bluff didn't work. The big blind made the call and waited for Adams to table his hand. Adams seemed hesitant to do just that and the big blind eventually showed his {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} after which Adams mucked.

Adams might have lost that pot but he still has more than enough chips left with, what looks like, 24,000 in chips.

Tran Lives to Fight Another Day

Level 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

Kenny Tran raised to 550 from under the gun. Action folded to the button, who called, as did both blinds. The flop was {4-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}. The blinds both checked, and Tran checked as well. The button, who by far has the largest stack at the table, bet 1,000. The blinds folded, and Tran thought for a minute before calling. The turn was the {2-Clubs}. Tran checked again, and the big blind immediately shoved all-in. Tran tanked for a couple minutes before reluctantly folding.
