Johnny "Miracle" Maravilla Finds None

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

In the last hand before the recent break, Johnny "Miracle" Maravilla sent his entire stack across the table after making a failed hero call.

The villain in this case was Eduardo Santi, who held {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} when the flop fell {j-Spades}{a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}. With the stone cold nuts on the flop, Santi checked to Maravilla, who came to the Main Event sporting a custom baseball cap emblazoned with his miraculous moniker, after winning his way to the WSOP through his home game.

With the pot containing just 7,000 or so chips, Maravilla decided to employ the massive overbet, tossing 16,000 into the middle. Santi quickly moved all in over the top, putting Santi to the ultimate test if he elected to call.

After tanking for a minute or two, and asking for a count of Santi's stack despite being covered, Maravilla stood and announced his decision.

"I have to call," he said while tabling the {A-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}. "I have the ace."

Santi coolly revealed his nut straight, and clapped when the turn brought the {3-Diamonds} to leave Maravilla drawing dead. The meaningless {7-Clubs} completed the board on the river, and Maravilla headed home with a story to tell his home game buddies.

Holloway Flexes his Chip Muscles

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

Chad Holloway is picking up right where he left off after break, slowly and steadily building his chip stack.

Facing a preflop raise to 1,000, Chad Holloway three-bet to 2,300. His opponent called. The flop came {q-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{j-Hearts}, and it was checked to Holloway, who pushed forward a large for a bet of over 20,000. His opponent quickly folded.

Alexander Acts His Way to Win

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

We arrived at the table on the river to see Tomas Macnamara bet 550 with the board reading {k-Spades}{2-Hearts}{q-Spades}{3-Hearts}{6-Hearts}. One other player called, and then Jason Alexander raised to 1,600. Macnamara folded, and the other player went into the tank. Alexander looked at him while he was thinking, then asked with a smile, "How can I help?" His opponent continued thinking for a few moments, then slid his cards toward the dealer, and Alexander pulled in the pot.

Paul "X-22" Magriel Here on Day 1A
Paul "X-22" Magriel Here on Day 1A

As the rest of the field departed the Amazon Room for the recent break, we noticed Paul "X-22" Magriel agonizing over a difficult decsion, his face contorting into the animated expressions that are his trademark.

The flop read {7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{j-Spades} and 2,100 was up for grabs in the middle. Bill Mullins had checked to Magriel, and he bet his signature amount of 2,200.

Mullins sprung his trap, however, and raised to 6,200. The action back on him, Magriel tanked for more than three minutes while the room emptied out, but ultimately he released his hand.

"Ace-king of diamond?," he asked Mullins, who graciously tabled the {j-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for top two pair in response.

Dunst Pushes on Barnhart

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

Sam Barnhart opened to 700 from under the gun and found two callers before Tony Dunst three-bet to 2,800 from the big blind. Barnhart called as the other two players folded and the dealer spread a {J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} flop.

Dunst looked at Barnhart's stack and then dropped in all of his orange 5,000-denomination chips amounting to a bet of 35,000.

"Give me a second here. I gotta think about this!" stated Barnhart as he contemplated the decision for his tournament life as he only had 10,000 behind.

Eventually Barnhart released his hand as Dunst was pushed the pot to move to over 50,000 in chips.

Hand of the Century

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante
Ronnie Bardah, Dominik Nitsche

"That was the hand of the century!" stated Ronnie Bardah as our PokerNews reporter strolled by the feature table.

"No really, it was the hand of the century. Write this down!" added Bardah before he recited the hand of the century to us.

Tatiana Barausova opened to 700 before Dominik Nitsche moved all in for 6,500. Barausova instantly called tabling her {A-}{K-} to be crushing Nitsche's {K-}{Q-}.

The flop fell {A-}{6-}{4-} and then Nitsche hit running queens to stay alive with roughly 13,000 in chips.

Schwartz Doubles

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

We arrived at the table on the turn to see Noah Schwartz bet 5,000 with the board reading {9-Hearts}{8-Spades}{j-Hearts}{5-Spades}. His opponent check-raised all in from the big blind position, and Schwartz went into the tank. After thinking for a few minutes, Schwartz called and tabled {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} for a set. His opponent showed {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}, and would need help in the form of either a queen for a set or a 10 for straight. The river, however, was a {6-Diamonds}, and Schwartz took the pot. After the hand, he was up to 38,000 in chips.
