Tran Takes a Hit

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Theo Tran raised it up to 2,500 in early position, and the next player to act called. Action folded around to the cutoff, and he put out a three bet to 6,600. Tran was the lone caller, and they went heads up to a flop of {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{2-Clubs}. Tran check-called a bet of 9,400, and the turn was the {2-Hearts} After Tran checked, his opponent quickly grabbed for chips again, and fired 16,100 into the middle. Tran tossed in the call, and he checked for a third time when the {9-Hearts} hit the river. His opponent tanked for about a minute before checking and tabling {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for second pair.

Tran nodded his head, and kicked his hand in, knocking him down to 47,500 in the process.

Sands Defends

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

A player raised from the button and Erika Sands defended her big blind with a call. The flop came {7-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{10-Spades} and Sands checked. Her opponent continued for 3,000, and Sands called. Both then checked the {7-Diamonds} turn.

The river was the {4-Clubs}, and this time Sands fired 6,100 in the middle. Her opponent gathered the calling chips and riffled them for a half-minute, then decided to let his hand go.

Braund Exits

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

The player under the gun plus one opened to 2,500, as the action folded around to Matthew Braund on the button. He made the call, as the blinds got out of the way.

The flop came down {q-Spades}{7-Spades}{4-Diamonds}, as Braund check called a continuation bet of 3,100. Both players then opted to check as the {2-Diamonds} fell on the turn. With the {5-Spades} completing the board, Braund’s opponent bet out 7,000, only for him to move all in over the top for an additional 23,900 in chips.

Over a minute went by, before Braund’s opponent made the call, and tabled his {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} for top pair. Braund showed his {6-Spades}{6-Hearts} for less, before making his way out of the Pavilion Room.

Mizrachi Moves Tables, Takes a hit.

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Michael Mizrachi
Michael Mizrachi

Michael "Grinder" Mizrachi recently moved from the Pavilion Room to the Brasilia Room, taking over 500,000 in chips with him. Once he arrived at his new table, it literally took him over ten minutes to unbag and stack all his chips. However, he lost a chunk almost as soon as he sat down.

With Michael Telker on the button and Mizrachi in the big blind, and the board reading {k-Spades}{2-Spades}{8-Clubs} on the flop, Mizrachi bet out 3,000, and Telker called. Grinder bet again when the {7-Diamonds} fell on the turn, this time for 7,500. Telker called again, and the {7-Spades} completed the board on the river. Mizrachi tossed out a big bet of 30,000. This was a lot for Telker, but didn't seem like much to Mizrachi, one of the benefits of having the biggest stack in the room. Telker tanked for about two minutes, then he announced he was all in. Mizrachi asked for a count. It turned out Telker had 47,800, so Mizrachi would only have to call 17,800 more. When it was obviously that the call was that small, Grinder announced a call even before the dealer finished counting the chips, and Telker turned over {k-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for a full house. Mizrachi slid his cards into the muck, and the dealer pushed Telker the pot. In this Michael v. Michael battle, Mizrachi lost nearly 60,000 on the hand.

Jacks No Good for Heinzelmann

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

We heard the dealer yell all in and a call as we walked by a table, and when we turned around, we saw that German pro Max Heinzelmann was involved. Heinzelmann had put a shorter stacked opponent at risk preflop with {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}, but unfortunately for him, his opponent had {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}. The board ran down {6-Spades}{5-Clubs}{5-Spades}{7-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}, and Heinzelmann shipped almost half his stack over, leaving him with just 25,500.

A Few for Ivey

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Robert Mizrachi and Phil Ivey are now sitting next to one another at a table in the Amazon Orange section, and just a short while ago the pair got involved in a hand against one another.

They'd reached the flop with the board showing {6-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} and about 12,000 in the middle. Mizrachi, playing from under the gun, checked, Ivey bet 6,000, and after thinking a while Mizrachi called.

The turn brought the {2-Clubs} and another check from Mizrachi. Ivey didn't wait too long to bet 12,000, and Mizrachi looked over at Ivey as he considered what to do while Ivey just continued to look forward at the board, his headphones on and with his usual unconcerned look. Finally after nearly a minute, Mizrachi let his hand go.

Harrington Chipping Up

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Following a raise to 2,000, Court Harrington three-bet to 6,000 from the small blind and the big blind called before the initial raiser made the call also.

The flop of {8-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} saw Harrington check but the big blind bet out 6,100. The initial raiser folded, but with the action back on Harrington, he check-raised to 21,600 to force the big blind's cards into the muck.

With that pot, Harrington is now up to 170,000 in chips.

Lindley Doubles

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

After a raise to 2,300 from middle position, Christina Lindley reraised all in for 21,200 from the cutoff seat. Action folded back to the raiser, and he made the call with the {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}. Lindley was behind with the {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}.

The flop, turn and river ran out {10-Spades}{9-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}, and Lindley doubled up.
