Salaburu Still Moving Fast

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Robert Salaburu is getting a massage at the moment, but it isn't doing anything to slow down his fast-paced play at the table. Just now a player raised to 2,200 from middle position and Robert Salaburu called from the cutoff seat. The small blind came along as well, and the flop came {4-Spades}{9-Clubs}{2-Clubs}.

It checked to the raiser who bet 3,000, Salaburu quickly raised to 9,000, and the small blind let his hand go. Salaburu's lone remaining opponent thought for about 15 seconds, then called.

The turn was the {4-Hearts} and both players checked. The river was the {Q-Hearts}. The middle position player checked, and once again acting quickly, Salaburu tossed out a big bet of 30,000, causing his opponent to think a short while before letting his hand go.

Israelashvili Doubles

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Roland Israelashvili (earlier in the series)
Roland Israelashvili (earlier in the series)

The hand started with the player under the gun opening to 2,200, and getting called by the player in the hijack. Roland Israelashvili then bumped it up to 11,000 from the cutoff, which forced the original raiser out. The hijack then moved all in and was snap called for less, as both players tabled their cards.

Opponent: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Israelashvili: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}

The board ran out {q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{6-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{7-Spades} to see Israelashvili dodge an ace, as he doubled up to 100,000.

Turner Can't Call the Shove

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

We caught up with the action in a four way pot on the flop, which read {6-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{7-Spades}. It checked around to Jon Turner in the cutoff, and he cut out a bet of 2,800. The first player folded, but the second player who checked moved all in for his last 23,400. It got back to Turner, and he thought it over for about a minute, rechecked his hole cards, then kicked them in.

That pot dropped Turner down to 86,000, while his opponent flashed a {9-} before folding.

Jorgensen Not Scared of Spades

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Theo Jorgensen
Theo Jorgensen

After a raise of 3,100 from Brandon Guss we saw Theo Jorgensen reraise to 7,500 from the button. Guss called and the two took to a flop.

The flop came down {A-Spades}{8-Spades}{10-Spades} and Guss checked to Jorgensen who bet out 6,000. Without missing a beat Guss called.

The turn was the {9-Spades} and Guss checked again. Jorgensen put out a bet of 10,000. Very quickly, Guss reraised to 25,000. Jorgensen called.

The river was the {4-Clubs} and this time both players slowed down with a check.

"You called me," Guss said to Jorgensen, turning up his {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for just a pair of tens. Jorgensen turned up his {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} though and his two pair was good enough to take down the pot.

"How do you call me there?" Guss asked Jorgensen after the hand, but he got no response as Jorgensen remained silent.

Cunningham Over 200k

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Justin Zaki raised to 2,000 under the gun, and action folded to Allen Cunningham in the big blind, who made the call. He then check-called 3,100 on the {q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} flop. Both players checked the {k-Spades} turn, and Cunningham fired 7,000 on the {q-Hearts}. Zaki folded, and Cunningham has a formidable stack of well over 200 big blinds.

Grafton Folds River

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

There was already about 14,000 in the middle when we walked up to the table to see Sam Grafton take a flop of {q-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} heads up. Grafton checked to his opponent, who fired out 8,000. Grafton tossed in two orange T5,000 chips for the call, and the turn brought the {10-Diamonds}. Both players tapped the table this time, then the river came {7-Spades}. Grafton knuckled a third time, and he was then faced with a bet of 16,800. He spent about a minute in the tank before tossing it in, and the usually gregarious Grafton was left silent, if only for a moment.

Gruissem Not Going To the Pool Party

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

With approximately 30,000 in chips already in the middle on the {J-Hearts}{8-Spades}{4-Clubs} flop, Philipp Gruissem bet 15,000. His opponent raised enough to put Gruissem all in. With about 70,000 left in his stack, Gruissem went into the tank to think about his decision.

After a minute or two, Gruissem said, "OK. WSOP over or pool party tomorrow?"

Another few moments passed while he contemplated his decision. "No pool party. Not going swimming right now," he decided before folding.

His opponent showed him the {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} and scooped in the pot.

Baldwin Busts

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Eric Baldwin
Eric Baldwin

Eric Baldwin was nursing a short stack for most of the day and even though he had a few double ups to last this long, he could never really get any traction. That holds true for the hand that sent him home. He went all in with queens and found himself up against aces. He wasn't able to improve when the board ran out {2-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and left the table wishing everyone luck.

Pocket Kings Beaten By What?

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

The player under the gun made it 2,100 to go, and Erika Sands reraised next to act to 6,500. It folded back around to the original raiser, and he tossed in the call. The flop came {9-Hearts}{2-Spades}{6-Spades}, and it was checked to Sands, who fired out 7,500. Her opponent thought it over for a bit before calling, and the turn brought the {8-Hearts}. Her opponent checked a second time, Sands fired 11,800, and again, her opponent tanked for about 90 seconds before cutting out the chips for the call, and dropping them in.

The river was the {3-Spades}, and her opponent didn't check this time. He thought over his options for about a minute before cutting out a bet of 26,700, and sliding it in the middle. Sands thought for just a few moments before saying "call," and her opponent said two pair, tabling {9-Clubs}{2-Clubs}.

Sands laughed to herself, rolled her eyes, and showed {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}. "I guess you didn't believe me preflop?" she asked as she handed the chips over. Another player at the table commented "well I wasn't expecting to see that."

After taking that hit, Mrs. Sands is down to 70,000.
