Break Time; Love Takes Lead, Kroon Snatches it Back, Many Notables Bust

Level 6 : 250/500, 50 ante
Mark Kroon
Mark Kroon

Level six is now complete and the players are heading on a 20-minute breka.

The final Day 2 of the 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event saw the surviving players from Day 1c - all 2,306 of them - take to the felt spread across the Amazon, Brasilia and Pavilion Rooms.

Everyone's eyes would be on the many notables throughout as well as those sitting high on the chip leader board as UFC Announcer Bruce Buffer kicked the day off with a bellowing shuffle up and deal. 2006 World Champion Jamie Gold would find himself seated alongside 6th place finisher Richard Lee, but it would unfortunately be Day 1c chip leader Mark "P0kerHo" Kroon relinquishing his lead to Imari Love who finished the level with roughly 228,000. However as the level came to a close, Kroon would river trip sixes with his {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs} to soar back up to 260,000 to end the level as top dog.

A hand in the Amazon Purple section would last roughly 15 minutes after Dutch player Pieter de Korver went into the tank for 12 minutes on the river before table mate Daniel Negreanu called time. Another hand from the Amazon Room would also cause a stir after a three-way six-bet hand between Jake Cody, Manuel Bevand and Vee Lee would see queens, queens and kings all get tabled!

Speaking of Negreanu, he would grind his short stack through to break, but the likes of David Sands, Brian Hastings, Barbara Enright, Maria Ho, Sam Trickett and Ben Yu would all be sent to the rail alongside Tom Dwan who lost {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} to Nicholas Vannewkirk's {J-Spades}{J-Hearts} to be eliminated.

As the remaining players enjoy some fresh air, refuel on coffee and snacks, you at home can watch a video Sarah Grant recorded with comedian Ray Romano yesterday.

The Ladies Love Jaffe

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante

We walked up to the table to see Jonathan Jaffe heads up on a flop of {3-Hearts}{9-Spades}{2-Hearts}. Jaffe fired out 2,300, and his opponent tossed out a raise to 5,150 as we arrived. Jaffe tanked for a bit, then kicked it back to 8,600. His opponent thought for about 20 seconds before stacking his chips into a tower, and slid it in, an all in for about 12,000. Jaffe quickly tossed a chip in for the call.

Jaffe: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Opponent: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

Jaffe was in great shape to score the knockout, and he held the lead through the {5-Clubs} turn and the {a-Diamonds} river. After winning that hand, Jaffe is now up to 145,000.

Love Bets On Hearts

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante

Imari Love started Day 2c with the second-largest stack among all of those returning to action today, and during Level 6 he mostly kept quiet, playing small pots and chipping up a little further as he did.

Just now Love began Level 7 getting involved with an opponent after raising from the hijack seat and getting a call from his neighbor to the left. The flop came single-suited — {2-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} — and when Love continued his neighbor called. The turn was the {5-Clubs} and this time Love checked, his opponent bet 4,700, and Love called.

The river brought a fourth heart to the board in the form of the {6-Hearts}. Love tossed out two orange (5,000) chips as a bet of 10,000, and his opponent only paused a beat before raising to 20,000. At that Love rechecked his cards, then tossed them away.

Engel Gets Two Streets of Value

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante

Ari Engel opened from middle position for an unknown amount and he received one call from Joshua Tieman on the button. The flop came down {6-Hearts}{10-Spades}{5-Hearts} and Engel continued with a bet of 1,175. Tieman called and the two saw the {9-Clubs} on the turn. Engel put out another bet, this time for 2,025 and Tieman called again.

The dealer laid the {J-Hearts} on the river and Engel put out a third bullet for 3,875. Tieman thought about it for about 30 seconds before laying his hand down and allowing Engel to take the pot.
