Mueller Checks Ovseyevitz into the Boards

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Greg Mueller
Greg Mueller

Former pro hockey player and two-time WSOP bracelet winner Greg Mueller just moved into the Amazon Room, and it didn't take long for him to get involved in a big pot. Mueller raised to 5,000 preflop from middle position and Max Ovseyevitz three-bet to 15,300 from the small blind. Mueller called, and the dealer rolled out a {Q-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{Q-Clubs} flop. Mueller quickly checked and Ovseyevitz fired 13,500 into the pot. Mueller cut out enough for a call, and then grabbed an additional 19,600 for a raise, and pushed the total amount into the pot. Ovseyevitz called.

The turn was the {10-Clubs} and Mueller continued his aggression by betting 40,000. Ovseyevitz went into the tank for a few minutes, leaning back in his seat several times, before eventually giving up his hand.

"You wanna see one or no," Mueller asked his defeated opponent. "You pick one." With the ESPN cameras rolling, Ovseyevitz picked a card and Mueller flipped over the {7-Diamonds} — good enough to increase his stack above the 200,000 mark.

Van Luijk Still Climbing

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Dick Van Luijk
Dick Van Luijk

After a late-position raise to 4,500, Dick Van Luijk called from the big blind. The flop came {k-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}, and Van Luijk check-called a bet of 5,500. Both players checked the {2-Diamonds} on the turn, and the dealer brought the {q-Spades} on the river. Van Luijk bet out for 10,000, and his opponent called. Van Luijk turned over {k-Spades}{4-Clubs} for two pair on the flop, and his opponent mucked.

The hand brings Van Luijk's stack up to 466,000.

Mueller Flops Set, Gets Paid

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Shortly after that hand with Max Ovseyevitz, Greg Mueller was back at it again in a hand that resulted in a large pot between himself and a lone opponent.

In this one Mueller limped in from under the gun, then watched as a player a couple of seats down raised to 6,500. It folded back around to Mueller who called, and the pair saw the dealer spread a {4-Spades}{2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} flop.

Mueller checked, and his opponent pushed out 4,500 as a continuation bet. In the midst of getting a message, Mueller was leaned forward and rocking slightly as he grabbed chips to check-raise to 15,500. His opponent sat for a couple of beats looking at his stack of around 75,000, then declared he was all in. Mueller called without hesitation.

Mueller flipped over his {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} for middle set while he opponent exhaled loudly as he showed his {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}. The turn and river brought a couple of tens, improving Mueller to a full house and sending another player to the rail early on Day 3.

Johnson Won't Be Pushed Out

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Chris Johnson fired 15,000 on a {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} board, only to see his opponent in the small blind come out with a check-raise to 38,500. Johnson called, and the river paired the board with the {k-Spades}. Both players checked, and Johnson turned over {q-Spades}{j-Clubs} for second pair. His opponent mucked, and Johnson's now north of 200,000.

Shaposhnikov Calls Bluff to Win 200,000-Chip Pot

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

We arrived at the table on the river, with over 100,000 already in the pot and {2-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} on board. Stacy Taylor led out for 55,000, and Roman Shaposhnikov went into the tank. He thought for about two full minutes, then pushed forward a call. Taylor turned over {a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} for ace high, and Shaposhnikov showed {10-Spades}{8-Diamonds} for a winning two pair.

The hand catapulted Shaposhnikov over the 300,000 chip mark.

Wisconsin Businessman Orr Hits the Rail

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

John Orr has just been eliminated from the Main Event. Orr - who used to own all the McDonalds stores in Southern Wisconsin - moved all in holding {10-}{10-} and was called by an opponent holding {A-}{Q-}.

Unfortunately for Orr the flop dropped two queens, and when no ten came on the turn and river, the Wisconsin native was headed to the rail.

Hang Chips Up

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

From the button Tommy Hang opened to 4,500 and both Phil Galfond and the big blind made the call to see a {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop with all three players checking.

The big blind took the lead with a bet of 6,000 when the turn landed the {5-Clubs}, and only Hang made the call as the {10-Spades} landed on the river.

Firing out 10,500, the big blind would then be met with a raise to roughly 45,000 from Hang which he responded with a snap-fold as Hang collected the pot to move to 227,000 in chips.
