Kaplan Collects

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

We came upon a postflop situation involving Andrew Carini and Jaime Kaplan just now that saw a board come {6-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{2-Diamonds}, Carini check, and Kaplan put out a bet of 21,000.

Carini came back with a check-raise to 62,000, then Kaplan deliberately replaced his previous bet with a reraise back to 162,000. Carini considered for just a few moments, then let his hand go.

Rajkumar Beaten By Kyaw

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

From early position, Vivek Rajkumar raised to 19,000. Seaver Kyaw made the call from the small blind, and Allen Cunningham called out of the big blind.

The three players saw a flop of {Q-Hearts}{J-Spades}{7-Spades}, and Kyaw led for 36,000. After Cunningham folded, Rajkumar called.

The turn was the {4-Diamonds}, and both players checked. They also checked after the {4-Hearts} paired the board on the river.

Kyaw showed the {K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}, and Rajkumar mucked his hand.

Verenko Gets Tricky With Ace-King

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Jacke Glazier raised to 16,000 in early position, 2012 WSOP bracelet winner Simon Charette called in the hijack seat, and Roman Verenko defended his big blind. The trio checked on a flop of {a-Spades}{6-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}, and the turn brought the {10-Clubs}. Verenko and Glazier both checked, prompting Charette to bet 24,000. Verenko check-raised to 54,000, and only Charette called.

The river was the {7-Spades}, Verenko led out for 104,000, and Charette tank-called. Verenko turned over {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} for trip aces.

"Wow," Charette said, genuinely shocked. "Nice hand."

Verenko chipped up to 615,000, while Charette is down to 135,000.

Newhouse Clips Nuter to Climb Leader Board

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

On a flop of {5-Clubs}{3-Spades}{10-Hearts} we found Mark Newhouse leading out from under the gun with a bet of 24,000. His opponent in Timothy Nuter made the call as the {3-Clubs} landed on the turn.

Newhouse checked and Nuter tossed in a bet of 45,000 only to have Newhouse check-raise to 105,000. Nuter released his hand and Newhouse was pushed the pot to move to 1,330,000 in chips.

Robert Spikes To Double Big

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Bastian Fischer opened to 16,000, before Vincent Robert raised it up to 35,000. Fischer then bumped it up to 92,000, before Robert came back over the top for 225,000. Fischer then had enough, announcing all in for 855,000. Robert made the quick call, as both players showed their cards.

Fischer: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}
Robert: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}

After winning a big pot earlier, Robert looked in danger of being eliminated. However, he would flop the world, as the dealer produced the {k-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{6-Spades}. The {q-Diamonds} on the turn and {9-Diamonds} on the river would provide no help for Fischer, as he was crippled down to 180,000 in chips.

Robert had the pot pushed his way, moving up to 1,370,000 in chips.

Updated Chip Counts From The Secondary Feature Table

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

407th - 430th Place

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

These players earned $28,063 for their Main Event finish. Keep an eye on the payouts tab for exact-place finishes.

Voilà

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

A very short-stacked Yann Migeon was all in and at risk preflop for his last 97,000 holding {7-Spades}{5-Spades}, and he was in very bad shape against Simon Lam's {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}.

"Six of spades in the window," Vladimir Geshkenbein said, nudging a downtrodden Migeon.

The window was not the {6-Spades}, rather it was the {q-Clubs}, but there was a seven on the {2-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} flop. The {4-Spades} on the turn was a brick, leaving Migeon with just five outs, and low and behold the {7-Clubs} completed the board to give him trips.

"Voilà," Geshkenbein said, grinning.

Affleck Loses Race to be Eliminated

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Matt Affleck
Matt Affleck

From early position Matt Affleck moved all in for 120,000 only to have Samuel Clements move all-in over the top next to act for 195,000.

Affleck: {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}
Clements: {J-Clubs}{J-Spades}

With Affleck racing for his tournament life, the {5-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} board wouldn't connect with the Seattle, Washington native as he would be forced to exit the Main Event shy of bettering his 15th and 80th place finishes back in 2010 and 2009 respectively.

Allen James On Elarrar's Squeeze

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

From middle position, Robert Koss raised to 17,000. Kevin Allen made the call on the button, then Rafi Elarrar reraised out of the small blind to 47,000. Koss folded, then Allen shoved all in. Elarrar quickly folded, and Allen won the pot.
