Taylor Takes a Big Pot

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
John Taylor
John Taylor

We walked up to a board of {2-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} and Jay Graunstadt led out for 12,000 heads up against John Taylor who raised to 37,000 from the button. Graunstadt made the call and the turn brought the {j-Spades}. Graunstadt checked and Taylor slid out 46,000. Graunstadt thought for a while before finally making the call.

The river was the {6-Spades} and Taylor pushed all-in. Graunstadt couldn't stand the heat and folded as Taylor turned over the {4-Spades}{5-Spades} showing what he may have thought was a bluff. "Same hand," Graunstadt claimed.

Instead of a chop though, Taylor dragged the entire pot.

Peter Alba Eliminated In 17th Place ($3,157)

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Peter Alba
Peter Alba

Cameron Tullis opened the action with a raise to 9,000 in middle position. One seat over, Peter Alba moved all in for just above 50,000 and all other players folded. Tullis made the call and it was off to the races:

Tullis: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}
Alba: {3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}

After the devastating {J-Spades}{9-Spades}{K-Diamonds} flop, Alba was crushed and sighed, "Wow, you just hit everything there." Only one out could save Alba, but the {K-Clubs} turn changed nothing, and now the deck's lone remaining trey would see him survive. The {8-Spades} river wasn't what Alba was looking for though, and he headed to the payout desk.

Baker Doubles

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Patricia Baker
Patricia Baker

Patricia Baker moved all in for 108,000 from under the gun and Aaron Henderson to her left thought long and hard before making the call. All the other players folded and they got it heads up with Baker at risk of elimination.

Baker tabled {a-Spades}{k-Hearts} and was against the pair {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} of Henderson.

The board ran out {6-Spades}{k-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. Baker survived and doubled up.

Eric Monson Eliminated In 18th Place ($3,157)

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Eric Monson
Eric Monson

Things are getting real as we are down to two tables, but Eric Monson's stack wasn't built to stick around for too long.

Brian Wong raised all in from middle position for 56,000 and Monson pushed his stack all in as well, though it was just a few big blinds. He saw the bad news as Wong flipped over {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} and his {9-Spades}{8-Clubs} needed some serious help.

The board ran out {7-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{a-Clubs} and Monson is out in 18th place.

Sherwin Pilalia Eliminated In 20th Place ($2,585)

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Sherwin Pilalia
Sherwin Pilalia

Brian Wong checked the stack of Sherwin Pilalia in the big blind after the action had folded to his small blind. He then moved all in and Pilalia called off with the {K-Spades}{2-Hearts}. Wong turned over the {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} and immediately shut down all hopes of a comeback for his opponent when the dealer delivered the {Q-Clubs}{2-Spades}{A-Clubs} flop. Both the {A-Spades} turn and the {10-Diamonds} river changed nothing at all and we are only one elimination away from another redraw.

Luis Gadiana Eliminated In 21st Place ($2,585)

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Luis Gadiana
Luis Gadiana

The rich get richer and simply run well. Luis Gadiana was all in with pocket sixes and got called by chip leader Aaron Henderson, who held the {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}. He spiked the set on the {Q-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{10-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} board and that was it.

John Taylor four-bet shoved for 90,000 and got called by Patricia Baker, after the latter had put in a three-bet to 30,000. Baker called immediately and showed {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}, but Taylor had that beat with the {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}. After the board ran out {10-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{2-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}, Taylor cheered for the double up and high fived with Corey Emery who had just walked by.

Mindy Ritchie Eliminated In 23rd Place ($2,585)

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Mindy Ritchie
Mindy Ritchie

Mindy Ritchie raised all in from the button for 30,000 and Aaron Henderson made the call from the small blind. Ritchie's {k-Clubs}{q-Spades} needed some help against the {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} of Henderson.

The flop of {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}{8-Spades} left Henderson ahead, as Ritchie begged for a queen or king. Neither came, however, as the board ran out {9-Clubs}{5-Hearts}.

Ritchie is out and Henderson is back to running well.
